Farris is the acknowledged master of anything with gears, wheels, crankshafts, pressure plates, exploding fragments, or razor-sharp, spring-loaded, spinning blades. A generally friendly teacher, he is famous for his brutal final exams, where students are expected to disarm and disassemble his ingeniously constructed lethal machines under combat conditions, all before he manages to finish smoking one of his smelly cigars.
