Backround[edit]

Upon his birth, an elk walked right into the village and died, gasping and choking, so he was named Gasping Elk.

He was not thought of well, for this was an ill omen.

Duh.

He was thrown out by his own parents, taken up by the druids who walk the wild paths, for none else would have him. He took to the ways of skinwalkers quick, but had a strange connection to dead and dying things, to nocturnal animals and carrion beasts.

The elders found this strange, and it sat ill in their hearts when they considered his birth... but, they found a use for it. When he came of age, they bestowed upon him the name Wormtalker, and sent him as emissary to the frost dwarves in the Great Underground, one of very few to hold such an honor. For a long time he dwelt in those dark caves in the carapace of spiders and slime of worms... and for a time he lost himself there, becoming another animal without any connection to civilization.

He was shaken out of it when a great horrible beast of the Hellfrost came into the tunnels, destroying and wreaking its havoc. He was reminded of the unnatural threat to all life... and he went home to prepare to face it properly.
