Introduction[edit]

"This is Marius Onetooth, Arch-Investigator, in service to Inquisitor Baruch Estren of the Calixian Conclave. Unauthorised attention to or reproduction of this recording is a crime against the dominion of mankind and is punishable with excommunication and death..."

There is a clicking noise in the recording, a few seconds of silence, and then a second, familiar voice begins.

"This is Baruch Estren, of the Ordo Malleus, to his acolytes and to Lord-Captain Hermes Valdez-Suprasor, regarding your recent assignment in Castri.

If you are listening to this recording, you have made it to the Castri system and thus succeeded in the first part of your task. Take heart and know that the Emperor has already shown you his favour by a safe journey.

First, Lord-Captain Valdez-Suprasor: You are hereby authorised to relay all information rated Zeta-Red-Iota or lower that is directly related to this mission to my acolytes. I believe this covers sections one, three, seven, eight and four-hundred and fifty-six of your orders. All other information is on a need-to-know basis.

To my acolytes: Here is what we have been able to discover since you departed for Tellian.

The Glory in Purity is an Inquisitorial 'Black Ship' used for the safe transmission of witches, sorcerors, rogue psykers and other unsanctioned scum to the Holy Throne itself for the Emperor's judgment. These ships function as part of a fleet and this alone alerted us to its absence. Its faithful sisters noticed its absence upon re-emergence in the Dulluth system perhaps a hundred light years from Castri several months ago. Through... various means... it was established that Castri was the probable destination had the ship dropped out of the Immaterium. We do not know why it did, whether through the malign hand of the daemon Malfunktion, a mutiny, or some of its cargo being released from the safety of cryo-storage.

We have dispatched an Imperial recovery team, but they are well behind you and will not arrive for many weeks. You will be the eye that guides the hand of the Imperium...

NPC's[edit]

  • Inquisitor Estren - assembled the team consisted of Marcellus, Ravion, Scythia, Castus, Grauss, and Mallia to investigate the Glory in Purity.
  • Inquisitor Quentalon - unseen to date, her own team consisted of Frag, Bruul, Quint, Krell, Uriel, and Sawney.
  • Nebruzon - During play it emerged that this former Inquisitorial agent was being transported on the ship for reasons unknown, interogation of the crew revealed that he somehow escaped captivity and led a mutiny to take over control of the ship. The players attacked the bridge and killed him at a high cost. Scythia and Castus reported directly to the Golden Throne.

Later plot developments have revealed that he was an extremely powerful telepath, capable of changing bodies at will along with the ability to wipe minds and rewrite personalities. It is important to note that our intelligence suggests that when Nebruzon takes a host, the eyes change to match his own: startlingly blue and cruel.
