(09/11/09 11:32:20) Anshu: "What is it?"
(09/11/09 11:33:26) Splendor: "Your behavior. I'm sick of the way you take moralistic stands and proceed to bully people with them."
(09/11/09 11:35:22) Anshu: "How have I been bullying people?"
(09/11/09 11:38:40) Splendor: "Let's see. Insisting you need partial control of other people's armies. Trying to take things they're emotionally dependent upon away. Do I need to continue?"
(09/11/09 11:39:50) Ziyad interjects "Actually I insisted on control of the army. I thought it would reduce the general tension in the camp. Furthermore it strikes me as better to have several capable Solars in command of our mortal military forces."
(09/11/09 11:40:12) Splendor: "...That's not the story I heard."
(09/11/09 11:40:42) Ziyad shrugs.
(09/11/09 11:42:48) Anshu: "I assume you're referring to the slavery vote we just held, as well?"
(09/11/09 11:42:59) Splendor: "I am, yes."
(09/11/09 11:43:27) Ziyad: "That I would prefer you not to have pushed. And I agree with Splendor. Weaning her views away from it first would have been wise."
(09/11/09 11:44:29) Ziyad: "As it is, she may now become an enemy of what we all seek to build here."
(09/11/09 11:46:17) Anshu: "I was trying to reach a compromise with her with just that goal in mind - weaning her, that is. But she was ignoring me, refusing to engage in negotiation."
(09/11/09 11:46:59) Splendor: "...Quite frankly, I didn't see much negotiation taking place from your side of the argument."
(09/11/09 11:47:51) Anshu: "I asked her what her objections had been to the laws of Great Forks, so that we might move forward."
(09/11/09 11:48:09) Anshu: "She answered, saying she was unhappy with the limitations on what sort of punishments were permitted."
(09/11/09 11:48:56) Anshu: "To which I responded by politely telling her that I did not think we would be able to accomodate her in that respect, and asked her if there was any other objection that we could accomodate."
(09/11/09 11:49:29) Anshu: "And that is when she began ignoring me."
(09/11/09 11:51:50) Anshu: "*After* I specifically asked for her input on how we could accommodate her."
(09/11/09 11:52:30) Splendor: "I wonder why." Splendor says sarcastically. "If I got told that my objections were going to be ignored, which, to a sixteen year old, you more or less did, I would have started ignoring you too."
(09/11/09 12:00:55) Anshu: "If she wants to be treated as an adult, as an equal, that's how I'll treat her. She can't have it both ways, not now, not while Creation is in in such peril."
(09/11/09 12:01:28) Anshu: "There's too much at stake for us to waste time coddling her. I was and still am willing to compromise with her, because I know we need her army, but I can't do that if she's not willing to meet me halfway."
(09/11/09 12:02:06) Splendor: "...She was *trying* to meet you halfway. Then you started dismissing her objections."
(09/11/09 12:03:21) Splendor: "Now, yes, she is partially to blame here. But not completely."
(09/11/09 12:05:21) Ziyad: "Now to be fair I'm not certain either party was trying to meet the other halfway. Both were seeking advantage not compromise. Neither were trying to see it from the others shoes."
(09/11/09 12:06:11) Ziyad: "But as you said, both are to blame. She needs to learn to behave like an adult if she is to act like one and Anshu needs to learn to control his temper."
(09/11/09 12:06:21) Splendor nods.
(09/11/09 12:06:45) Ziyad turns to Anshu.
(09/11/09 12:07:06) Splendor: "That was the other thing I wanted to talk about."
(09/11/09 12:07:30) Ziyad: "Frustration is a simple enemy to beat but one you let beat you everytime. And everytime you surrender to it you look weaker than those you are fighting. Whether in court, duels or pitched battles."
(09/11/09 12:10:44) Ziyad looks as if he is about to say more but stops himself short.
(09/11/09 12:11:46) Ziyad: "Those who maintain their composure look better. And politics is all about looking the better person."
(09/11/09 12:12:16) Anshu: Anshu nods. "It is a curse, one that has become... stronger since I Exalted. I have been trying to restrain myself better. I would point out that it was Nuwa who called for the vote. Which is ironic, since she is usually the one with the most restraint."
(09/11/09 12:12:29) Splendor snorts.
(09/11/09 12:12:59) Anshu: "Well, more restraint than some others, at least."
(09/11/09 12:13:05) Splendor: "Nuwa is not much better. She assumes that her own positions are correct far too often."
(09/11/09 12:17:54) Anshu: "That seems to be a common thread with Exalted, if I may say so."
(09/11/09 12:48:06) Splendor: "It is, yes. In both ages." Splendor smiles thinly. "I've heard stories that would put House Cynis to shame."
(09/11/09 12:54:29) Anshu: Anshu's mouth thins in disapproval. "Would that Cynis would pay more attention to their duties as Exalts than to their debauches. But I suppose it is inevitable. We are fundamentally still merely human."
(09/11/09 12:55:58) Splendor shrugs. "What duties? We were created to fight the Primordials. Unless I'm sorely mistaken, the Isle is not aware that the Yozis have Exalts of their own."
(09/11/09 12:59:02) Ziyad: "From what I know of the Dynasts they just do publically what others hide behind closed doors."
(09/11/09 12:59:09) Anshu: "Protecting Creation. Protecting the mortals under their authority."
