Backstory
Rallar lived into adulthood as a huntsman in a small but proud tribe in the Qo Jungle. He earned a reputation for being one of the tribe's greatest hunters, and his skill with a bow was unrivaled. Rallar was with four other members of his tribe on a hunting expedition when they were attacked in their sleep by slavers, led by the ruthless Farig Berblight. The fight was short but bloody; Rallar managed to kill three of Farig's men using his greatbow before being overwhelmed.
Farig decided to make an example out of Rallar. He snapped the hunter's bow in two, then drew a wicked-looking, serrated dagger. With the blade he bloodily liberated Rallar's middle finger from his right hand, ensuring that he would never shoot a bow again.
At the city of Malakut, Rallar and the other hunters were split up and sold to different buyers. Rallar found himself working under a young noble named Lester Redheart. He learned to read and write, and eventually became the noble's favorite scribe and trusted confidant. After almost a decade of service, Lester Redheart formally made Rallar a member of his family, making the barbarian a nobleman and giving him his freedom. Rallar bid his friend farewell and headed home.
On the first night of his return journey, Rallar's party was attacked by none other than Farig Berblight. Recognizing the missing finger, Farig assumed Rallar had escaped. He wickedly beat Rallar and sold him to other slavers who would take him far away...
