Kuros: And I guess Alectai has dropped out

Kuros: S/he hasn't been online, and hasn't replied to me

Fetich_Soul_of_Kuros has joined #Exalted.

Kuros: My fetich soul will be joining us today, as a guest villain.

Kuros: Fun will now commence.

Silk: reports for mandatory fun!

Beyond the Tomb of Five Corners - Session 20[edit]

Kuros: You're in the room, having just discovered the Emissary has a piece

Silk: (later that evening Silk will talk to Son in private, ->PM)

Alyssa: "Well, I suppose the first thing to do is to check into how to obtain an audience with the Emissary. Other than committing some kind of terrible crime."

Kuros: There's a knock on the door!

Silk nods. "We should use tomorrow to gather some intelligence."

Alyssa starts at the sound.

Alyssa: "Who's there?"

Thelaos: "Thelaos!"

Silk is close to disappearing, but stops in time

Alyssa: "Oh. You can come in then."

Alyssa: "Thought for a moment it was the Emissary."

SonoftheMetalFlame snorts. "We should be so lucky."

Thelaos steps in and joins the others, shutting the door quietly behind him.

Kuros: (Unfortunately, Astrid is not with him!)

Thelaos: (uh oh)

Silk: (she was called away by the Silver Pact! or something)

Thelaos: "No sign of The Bull or his army following us.. but then they wouldn't move very quickly."

Silk: "And 'None shall bring an army into Nexus'." Silk grins.

Thelaos: "Hmph.. I don't think I'd put it past him."

Thelaos: "So we're expecting a visit from the Emissary?"

Alyssa: "Even if he doesn't, I'm sure that there are ways around that law."

Silk: "Ah, but then the Emissary would have fun with *him*."

Alyssa: "It seems that the Emissary has the piece we are looking for."

Thelaos raises and eyebrow, "really.."

Thelaos: "Getting a hold of that one should be interesting."

Thelaos: "And here I thought that Nexus would be our easiest step."

Alyssa: "Well, asking nicely has been known to work. Occasionally."

Silk has assumed the appearance of a small, elderly man wearing an embroidered jacket over a severely cut white shirt and black pants. Behind silver-rimmed glasses gray eyes examine the world with dispassionate intelligence. All in all he looks more like a successful mortal accountant or a lawyer than like a powerful Solar Exalt.

SonoftheMetalFlame: "Well, if asking nicely works, then we need to figure out how to get to him so that we can ask."

Silk: "Indeed, which brings us to what I was going to say before Thelaos arrived."

Silk: "Our next order of business should be to gather intelligence, including exactly that piece of information."

Silk: "But it would also be nice to know, what powers he has displayed in the past and what sorts of opponents he has faced. Just in case he takes offense."

Alyssa: "Well that shouldn't be too hard to find out."

Silk: "Before you arrived, Thelaos, we were considering the idea of getting an audience with one of the Council's members first, and asking them to arrange a meeting with the Emissary. That would be one option to look into."

Alyssa: "Equally it might be as simple as making an appointment at the Council Building. Probably not, but it is possible."

Thelaos nods. "That sounds like a good start."

Alyssa: "We should also check if there are any civilities that we need to watch out for at the moment. They've probably changed since the last time I was here."

Silk: "Oh yes. It would be embarrassing to be denied audience, fined, or whatever, just because we ate the wrong sort of fish at the wrong time of the day, or something like that."

Alyssa: "The Innkeep would probably be glad to tell us, it's just good business."

Silk: (what time was it again?)

Kuros: (Yes, evening, getting on towards night)

Silk nods. "How about one of you works on that angle and I work on another?"

SonoftheMetalFlame: "I'd be glad to try and attain an appointment at the Council Building."

Alyssa: "I'll see what I can find out about the Bull and the Mask of Winters."

Alyssa: "Word may have reached Nexus we haven't hear yet."

Silk: "I will work on the Emissary's history, as far as the common people know it. The scholar's version might be something for Son to research?"

SonoftheMetalFlame nods. "Yes, perhaps that would suit me better."

Thelaos: "In that case, I will see about the appointment."

Alyssa: "That seems to divide tasks equitably."

Silk: "Very well. Let us see what this establishment has to offer for dinner and after that I'll begin."

Alyssa: "I'll check on the civilities while we do so."

Kuros: Do you order food?

Kuros: The common room is down below, and half full...you notice the waiters skipping every 3rd step while carrying food and drunk, though this doesn't seem to impair them much.

Alyssa picks a decent table.

Kuros: As you sit, a soberly dressed man walks up to the table, and begins reciting a list of food from memory.

Alyssa raises one hand to stop him. "Are there any civilities we should consider before ordering?" she asks.

Kuros: He pauses, then says, without missing a beat, "Any fish have to be eaten with the left hand, and if anyone orders white vegetables, you must eat it with your eyes shut."

Silk orders fish, bread and fruit

Kuros: (And this is the next morning!)

Kuros: The door opens again, and Alyssa walks in, followed by an identical clone of Sima.

Kuros: They smile and wave at each other.

Alyssa: "Good morning Thelaos, how is your morning going?"

Kuros: (Son shows up a few minutes later, with yet another clone of Sima)

Kuros: (But Son has to lave, so he is going to be quiet)

Thelaos grins slightly, "Alyssa. Learn anything interesting?"

Alyssa: "A few things." I'll fill him in on whatever civilites are of importance.

Kuros: The Simas look at each other, and speak in unison. "Your friend doesn't trust us."

Kuros: THey shrug, again in perfect unison. "Ah well."

Alyssa: "He doesn't trust anyone."

Kuros: They all walk towards one another, and when it looks like they are about to collide, there is a shimmering in the air. They walk into each other, their bodies fusing and shimmering. A few seconds later, the shimmering resolves itself in a tall, thin figure robed in white wearing a polished silver mask.

Alyssa: "Emissary," Alyssa greets him and bows. "I imagine that you have some idea of why we seek you out."

kuros: "Perhaps, but it still needs to be said." His voice is harsh, eching from behind the polished mask."

Alyssa: "Very well then. Several parties, ourselves included, seek the keys to Shebeth."

kuros: He reaches into his robe, and withdraws a thin rod, perhaps a foot in length, made of a golden metal and capped with silver bands.

kuros: "I will give it to you, if you will do something for me."

kuros: He twirls the rod slowly between his fingers.

Alyssa asks one of the eternal questions. "What do you want?"

kuros: (The other being who are you? =P)

Alyssa: (of course)

kuros: "THere is a tomb, of one of your kind, in the Firewander district."

kuros: "I wish for you to retrieve something from it."

kuros: He extends his hand, palm face up, and the air above it flickers.

kuros: An image appears...it is series of concentric rings made of an obviously magical silvery metal, rotating slowly around the axis of a thin golden rod

Alyssa: squints at the image. "What is it?"

kuros: "A heart."

Thelaos: "That doesn't look like a heart."

kuros: The Emissary closes his hand, and the image disappears.

kuros: "You mean it doesn't look like a mortal heart."

kuros: "It is, however, irrelevant. It is my price."

Alyssa: "Firewander. That's the district with the Wyld pocket, I believe?"

kuros: He nods. Alyssa: "Sounds difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. What do you think Thelaos?"

Thelaos: "We'd better get to work."

Alyssa: "Then let's go let Silk find us and then I suppose we'll be off to Firewander."

kuros: "He is outside."

kuros: The Emissary points toward the window

kuros: (Thelaos and Alyssa wouldn't see him)

Alyssa: "Then he'll know to meet us outside." Alyssa bows to the Emissary and heads for the door."

Thelaos turns and follows Alyssa outside, asking once they leave the building, "you're from this place.. how bad do you expect this to be?"

kuros: The Emissary says nothing, watching you leave silently.

Silk: Wherever you go, after a minute or so a small bell rings and a few seconds later Silk is with you once more.

Alyssa: (looks like we're going tomb raiding)

Silk: "Well. That was a most unpleasant experience."

Silk: "I don't like being threatened, not at all."

Alyssa: "What happened?"

Silk: "A demonstration of power and a thinly veiled threat."

Silk: "You heard the last of it, before that it was some sort of servant spirit he sent to demonstrate the penetration of his sight."

Silk: "I was this close to ending its existence ... perhaps I should have done so."

Alyssa: "Perhaps not. Attack the Emissary... or it's emissaries... is probably prohibited in some way."

Silk: (is it, explicitly?)

kuros: (No...but it might fall under None may commit wanton violence)

Silk sighs. "Regardless of that, I decided the gain was too small."

Alyssa: "Let's be glad of that. He was fairly cordial after all."

Silk: "On the face of things maybe."

Silk: "But make no mistake, this *was* a demonstration of power and a threat."

Alyssa: "Oh no doubt. What of it? Why make life easy for us?"

Silk: "He wants to make sure that his offer is the only way we consider, that fear dissuades us from alternatives."

Silk: "Like all people of power he has an agenda and we would do well to find out what it is, what he has to gain from this 'heart' he presumes to sent the Chosen of the Sun after like errand boys."

Alyssa: "True. I must admit to curiousity as to what this 'heart' is."

Silk: (next game is ...)
