Disadvantages[edit]

Cursed By The Realm (Gaki-DoClothes, Wakizashi, Any One Weapon, Unicorn Steed, Traveling Pack, 5 Koku) - Laichao's close attunement to life and pleasure make him an irresistible snack to the Hungry Dead. He must smell like a pot roast to them.

Gaijin Name - Laichao's was originally going to be named Minamoto, but his mother, an exotic gaijin singer, pleaded with his father to use the translated version of his name to remind her of home. In the couple of years she took to learn proper Rokugani, Laichao's name was the only thing she got right on a regular basis.

Lechery - Laichao grew up with a sporty, athletic tomboy called Madoka; the two of them were inseparable as children and frequently spent their early days exploring the reaches of the Islands of Silk and Spice. As he grew older, Laichao realized that he felt for Madoka in a way that transcended mere friendship. On the day he was due to confess his affections to her, Madoka's father gruffly announced that she was engaged to be married to another, and that it would be best if Laichao stopped coming around any more. Heartbroken, Laichao tried to fill the hole in his heart by chasing girl after girl, with varying degrees of success.

But it's just not the same.

True Love - At great length, Laichao slowly got over his crush on Madoka; but his soul is that of a true romantic, and all he's learned from this is that if he ever finds a love to rival his first, it will take Heaven and Earth to keep him from it.

Advantages[edit]

Ally (Toturi Maihime: Devotion 1 Power 4) - In Laichao's youth, his family was invited to Winter Court, where he got the chance to meet the young Toturi Maihime, though he didn't know who she was at first. During that particular Winter Court, Maihime was in attendance as a formality, but she longed to return to her books and spent long evenings sighing sadly on the balconies. The ever-enterprising Laichao got it into his head to make her smile, though Seppun Miharu fell on him scant moments after he somehow managed to swing onto her balcony from a nearby cherry tree after talking to her while hanging from one of its branches. Fortunately, with Maihime vouching for him, Laichao got away with just a beating and a stern reprimand from the Miharu guard captain. Even after Winter Court ended, the two of them still corresponded frequently, with Laichao sending her accounts of his various adventures on a ship and around the islands.

Crab Hands - Laichao has never felt the hand of his ancestors in his life, but all weapons feel as natural to him as his own hands, even without formal training. Only the Crab share his degree of martial familiarity...

Daredevil - If anything, Laichao's ancestry proves that athleticism is hereditary. His entire line has had a history of wild acts of derring-do, and even his father, who's one of the most easygoing and laidback members of his family tree, has been known to swing from ship to ship when boarding pirates; Laichao is a compulsive runner and jumper, and the potential to surpass his ancestors definitely exists within him.

The Voice - Laichao's mother was a gifted singer who was captured by a pirate vessel and forced to sing for their captain. When Laichao's father liberated her vessel, she clung to him and refused to let go. One thing led to another, and soon, they were married with Laichao two months pregnant in her belly. Among other things, Laichao's mother has passed on her voice, which is robust and delicate as needed, and can adapt to match a nigh-infinite variety of roles.
