Hotaru isn't the brightest or the most charismatic, but what she lacks in smarts, she makes up for in enthusiasm. ... or at least tries to. It turns out that this isn't the best approach to school; her grades are average at best. Still, she's pretty athletic and a bit of a showoff, so she usually has plenty of admirers, if not many close friends. The same enthusiasm, desire for attention, and lack of foresight tend to lead her to get in over her head.
When she was younger, Hotaru was a gymnast. A really good one, up until she hit her teens and it started interfering with her schoolwork. Her parents pulled her out of her lessons and competitions, but she's still got the figure for it and more than a little talent.
Hotaru keeps her hair in a short bob, all the better for her athletics. With her short, lean build, it can be easy to mistake her as being several years younger than she really is... a mistake sure to draw her annoyance. In her magic girl form, she wears a nearly floor-length white cloak that almost completely obscures her body when she's standing relaxed. The cloak is held together with a golden star-shaped pin near her right shoulder, and the cloak's interior is black. Beneath it, she wears a lace-trimmed sleeveless green top, a matching loose skirt, and a pair of seemingly leather boots. The whole getup is very easy to move in, with the cloak parting to flow behind her when she runs.
What convinced you to make a contract?
Getting to run around all night fighting, being nearly indestructible, and superpowers to boot? Who could pass that up?!
What is your wish?
As if she's thought that far ahead.
Hotaru's element is air. Not only is it nice when attacking, but she can also use short gusts of it to provide quick acceleration when moving.
Magical Power Hotaru was acrobatic before... and as a magic girl, she's even faster and more nimble, plus she can pull off a few stunts with the help of some air blasts that normal human physiology would never let her do. She can dash across tightropes, climb buildings like a monkey, and jump over fences, and she's not bad in a race, either.
Swift Action: Hotaru's nimbleness lets her get to the frontlines fast, every time.
Magic Shield: A little airblasting is good for pushing herself out of the way of an attack or deflecting one away from an ally.
When transformed, Hotaru carries a study wooden bo staff, with only a pair of diamond-shaped blue gems embedded in it to mark it as a magical weapon.
Barrage Attack: With a hefty swing of her staff, Hotaru can summon up a wind capable of knocking an entire room of enemies on their butts. (She also can't settle on a single name cool enough for it and tends to call it something different every other day.)
Hotaru was learning the ropes under a magic girl a few years her senior, Mitsuko Kumagai. A few weeks ago, Mitsuko found her 13th Oblivion Seed... and Hotaru hasn't seen her since. After going a little mad and spending days frantically searching the city for the girl, she's decided that Mitsuko must have made some totally awesome wish and gone off to be queen of Mars or something. Still, it's left her itching to get her own wish in, yet a little suspicious...

|Kotone||Heart||Hotaru's former senpai in gymnastics, who has a sort of big-sisterly relationship toward her.||0|
|Akemi||Fury||They've ended up on the same side of fights against youma a few times, and their combat styles mesh well together. The two have an alliance of convenience for fights they can't handle individually.||0|
