Background

Mirabella comes from a Cadet line of the Brandybuck family, the daughter of a prosperous trader. Inspired by her father's tales of travel, and inheriting her aunt's interest in genealogy, she has set to learn about her own ancestry and those of others. Who knows, maybe she can discover where her ancestors came from before they settled the Shire. She is small, even for a Hobbit.

Mirabella has traced her family back to Reginard Oldbuck (whose original surname might have been just Buck, matters are unclear on this). According to family legend, he was part of the families that originally settled The Shire around TA 1601. According to legend, he was displeased with The Shire and wished to return to the 'old country'. Most of the family thought that this 'old country' was simply Breeland, but Mirabella is convinced that he meant the hobbits original habitation east of the Misty Mountains. Thus, she searches for ancient clues to her family's past.
