==History==
===Early Life===
Violet was born into one of the old money aristocracies in Cambridge, England. Her parents bought her and her two brothers the best of everything that money could buy; clothes, dolls, toys, schooling. Violet turned out to be talented physically and was encouraged into taking up ballet and gymnastics alongside her weekly violin lessons. She never was that good at the violin, but the teacher had been payed far too much money to say anything bad about her. She was also suspiciously good at hide and seek.

===The Great War===
When Violet found out that Henry and Matthew, her older brothers, were joining the army to fight in the war, she went along to enlist with them. Dressed as a man, of course. Bob Shadow was originally slated for the trenches like every other soldier, but was selected for espionage training. She infiltrated Germany and occupied France and exposed many secret plans and secret weapons, because no-one expected the woman to be the spy! Least of all did they expect the woman pretending to be a man pretending to be a woman to be the spy! The Germans never saw it (or her) coming. During her time in the army she developed a humble respect for the holy game of poker, and a fondness of fine cigars.

==Novels==
===Violet Shadow in ''Aces Wild''===
The deadly and beautiful (but mostly deadly) Miss Shadow has been invited to play a friendly game of poker in Mr. William Stronghouse's luxurious mansion with many other aficionados of the holy game. But not all is as it seems! What are Mr Stronghouse's real intentions? Why have the aces in many decks around the world suddenly been disappearing? And can Miss Shadow survive a game with higher stakes than she can possibly imagine?
