'''Name''':Erik Evitt

'''Embrace''': 1922

'''Apparent Age''': Mid Thirties

'''Clan''': Gangrel

'''Covenant''': Invictus

'''Discription''': Erik never looks at home in the suits he wears, the mans tanned face and rough hands seem to belong on a farm, working the fields. His eyes are the only hint at the mans quick intelligence and sharp wit. The lines of a hard life go neatly with Seneschal Evitt's salt and pepper hair, but the man has the energy of a much younger creature.

'''Background''': Erik grew up on a farm in Kentucky, the seventh of eleven children, and one of six who reached adulthood. When he was a young man he left home with his brother to work for the railroad. It was hard work, but he got to see much of the country and met the girl he would marry. But fate was cruel to Evitt. After years trying for a child his wife would die in child birth along with his only son. When the Great War came to America Evitt and his younger brother left to fight. The man who returned was much sobered by what he had seen. What he had done.

Erik did not return to Kentucky after the war, or to the home he had made with is late wife in Texas. Instead he went to New York, a city where he could loose himself. He did hard labor in the day, and spoke against the injustice of the corporations and the government at night. His sire, a traveling nomad, never explained why he Embraced Evitt and for his part Erik was to afraid to ask.

The product of an illegal embrace, Evitt spent much of his early years among the kindred earning his right to exist. Eventually he joined the Invictus and served as a hound and latter as Herald. When Prince Seegar too the throne he asked Evitt to become his Seneschal and the Gangrel agreed. Few were surprised by his appointment.

'''Storytelling Hints''': Erik is an excellent Seneschal. For his Gangrel blood and rough looks he is popular with the low clans. The Carthians see him as a symbol of how one can rise from the bottom and reach the top and believe him sympathetic to their cause, even if he is not. Other Invictus know him to be an excellent politician and master manipulator, able to get his hands dirty when needed or convince others to do it for him.

'''Covenant''': Unbound

'''Discription''': Tabitha appears as a young girl, small even for her age with soft blonde hair and clear blue eyes. She is of a fair complexion, with the slightest tan and a smattering of freckles on her cheeks and shoulders. Her big eyes are deeply inquisitive, watching everything around her. The Elders expression is one of barely controlled excitement combined with sly humor. Tabitha usually wears summer dresses and flip flops in the warm months and jeans with boots and one of those big poofy jackets in the colder ones.

'''Background''': There are as many tales of the storied elders history, some will tell you, as their are kindred to tell them. Many agree however that she was not Embraced in America. A few of the more reliable sources, if any can be counted as such, say she was once the Prince of Paris. Of course another story says she lead a coven of children vampires in the city of Rome, practicing blood magic and horrible ritual sacrifice. And didn't you hear, she was part of an Amaranth cult in England and Island. That's how she got so powerful, drinking hearts blood.

What ever the truth is, the monster called Tabitha arrived in the area around New York sometime after the war of 1812. The city of New Jersey was then, much like New York, a domain of the Lancea Sanctum. The Prince and his Primogen vanished over the course of a year, and those kindred which did not flee the city went into hiding. Tabitha declared herself Prince, though she made no court and her edicts were by word of mouth only.

In the early part of the twentieth century a group of Invictus Kindred calling themselves the Young Guard seized control of New York with the aid of the Circle of the Crone. Many of the cities older First and Second Estate went into exile in Boston. Half a decade latter the New Guard attempted to expand out of Manhattan into New Jersey. They killed two mouthy unbound kindred they encountered and set up a court, issuing a proclamation that all Kindred of New Jersey present themselves within the month if they wished for their claims of domain to be honored, or wanted to request Tenure. The Prince of New York made a big show of rewarding many of the young Kindred who had helped him take the throne with vast domains in New Jersey.

A note arrived in the Elysium of New Jersey. It is said to have read 'Your in my city. Get out. - Prince Tabitha.'. Of course, the note was ignored. Within a year all those New York kindred who had claimed Domain in New Jersey were dead or missing. Some had attempted to flee back to New York and take refuge there, but that proved little protection.

The night of Ashes was November the 17th, 1904. The Kindred of New York arrived at the theater where they held court to find the prince and Primogen dead, savagely ripped apart. The cities two hounds were likewise missing. Then Tabitha appeared before the confused kindred. She told them she was taking over, and every kindred in the city had one month to present themselves or be devoured. The elder was true to her word.

Tabitha reigned for one year, bringing the five Burroughs together as one domain, and then including the city of New Jersey as well. She invited back the exiled Invictus and Lance, setting Bishop Isaac Saur up as Prince of New York. She gave vast territories to other exiled members of the First and Second estate, mostly domains that belong to kindred who had fallen under her fangs. And then she went back to New Jersey as Regent where she had once been Prince.

Aside from occasionally attending court to talk with Prince Saur or champion the Nosferatu Tabitha rarely involves herself in the affairs of the cities, at least directly. In the modern nights it is often speculated weather or not she actually supports Prince Seegar, despite bending knee to him along with the other Regents when he assumed the Throne.

'''Storytelling Hints''': Tabitha is a monster. Trapped in the body of a young girl she is forced to feed of the blood kindred due to her advanced age. Except she fed off vampire blood long before she needed to. The truth is, the girl likes feeding off other kindred. She likes the power she feels.

To her, the Kindred of New York and New Jersey are her herd. And thus her main concern is the cities stability. Large scale conflict depletes her herd, and threatens her way of life. One sure way to earn the elders displeasure, and then likely end up her next meal, is to start killing other vampires.

Despite rumors the to contrary, Tabitha rarely kills when she feeds. Most of her blood comes from other Nosferatu, who give it to her in tribute for their rights to maintain havens in New Jersey or dwell in the Necropolis. When she does hunt other kindred she typically takes what she wants and then dominates them into forgetting the experience. Nomads who wonder into the city, or those who earn her displeasure however learn the hard way that Tabitha does not always practice catch and release feeding.

'''Name''': Roland Seegar

'''Embrace''': 1874

'''Apparent Age''': Late fifties

'''Clan''': Ventrue

'''Covenant''': Invictus

'''Discription''': Prince Seegar appears at once as both as hard and timeless as a craggy mountain and as comforting and warm as a down blanket on a winters day. His grey eyes have the sort of tempered warmth a loving fathers eyes have, and hold the same look, promising love and praise or swift punishment, depending on his mood. Few have seen him in anything less formal then a sweeter vest, and Prince Seegar never attends court in less then a three piece suit.

'''Background''': Orphaned as a child, Roland Seegar grew up in Boston in a Catholic orphanage. From an early age he served the church, as an alter boy and assistant and much later as a Priest himself. In the Civil War he was a surgeon and a Priest, healing those he could with what medical skill he had, and sending to the afterlife those he could not. A fragment from a mortar shell left him with a scar just below his left temple, almost invisible now.

Roland Seegar was embraced by the then Bishop of New York, Isaac Saur, in 1874, the man enjoying the talks they had and more, seeing promise in his conviction and temperance. During the Time of Troubles in New York, Roland took the side of the entrenched Old Guard, despite his youth. Following the Old Guards defeat at the hands of the younger Invictus and their allies in the Circle of the Crone Roland followed his sire and other Lancea and Invictus into Exile in Boston, where he would spend the next half dozen years.

Prince Seegar's sire was recalled to New York by Tabitha following her Night of Ashes when the Elder, then the Prince of New Jersey, slew the upstart court of the New Guard and devoured the Prince of New York. Tabitha made Bishop Saur the Prince of New York, even as she declared the Princedoms of Queens and the Bronx as well as New Jersey to be territories of New York. Roland had since joined the Invictus, despite all assumptions that he would join the Lance. He became Seneschal of New York and often served as acting Prince as his sire was often occupied with the duties of being Arch-Bishop of the largest American city.

In 2004 Prince Isaac Saur entered Torpor, placing Seegar on the throne. So far the young Prince has managed to maintain control of New York, but in Elysium and other, darker places kindred conspire. And Prince Seegar does not inspire the fear his sire once did.

'''Storytelling Hints''': Roland has been Prince for less then a decade, sitting on a Throne given to his sire by one of his Regents, Tabitha. Fear of the monstrous girl, one known to feed off the blood of her fellows kept his sire safe from any of the other Regents. But Roland know's the girl does not see him the way she saw his sire. He has spent the better part of a century running the city, even if his sire ran it in name. His connections are vast, and his power base hard for most to fathom. Still older and and more experienced monsters eye his Throne. Some may well imagine themselves more fit to sit it.

And then there are the Carthians. Fifty years ago Roland thought them a passing fade, yet the young Covenant now out numbers the Invictus and Lance combined in New York. They call for votes, for Carthian members of the Primogen. The First Estate is well entrenched but Roland and the inner circle know they can not hope to match the soldiers the Carthians could muster should it turn to that. Still, giving them any sort of power or voice erodes his alliances and bargains with the other Invictus, allies he can not afford to loose.

And so the man that appears as strong as a stone wall and unworried as a champion poker player walks on egg shells. Everything he does, every move he makes or decree made public is carefully weighted. For the wolves are at the gate, waiting to rush in.

While the city is home to over three hundred kindred and perhaps twice that many ghouls and thralls I have presented only a small fraction of the cast here. I will add more as I create them, but I leave most of the city as an unknown. This is intentional. It gives other story tellers room to work with, and allows me to create ad-hoc kindred and NPC's as I need them. The NPC's are presented here as they are known. Some NPC's have more to them then meets the eye, and may in truth be much more powerful (Hint - there is a Methuselah here.
'''Embrace''': 1874

Here you will find a list of the NPC's I have created for New York by Night. And no, its not Tabitha.), or much less powerful than presented.

I categorize my NPC's into these three categories bellow. This is a representation of their power in the city, not of their age or personal power as a member of the damned (or as a thrall of the damned.) While Elders are typically in the Queens and Kings and neonates among the Pawns it is not always the case. Often times it is a monsters influence in the mortal world, their power base as it were, and not their age that ranks them.
