==Bon Voyage/Bon Fait D'aspirer a==

Whirlwind Panther and Nellens Adanole continued their journey to Arjuf in order to link up with their crew and wait for their boat to depart to the Southern Desert. Upon reaching Arjuf, Panther and Adanole went to a rundown tavern upon which they met Sesus Buntaro, an Immaculate Child of Hesiesh and a member of the adventuring party representing Mnemon Derik. The trio sat to get some drinks, Panther getting ale, Buntaro getting tea, and Adanole getting the strongest drought available. While planning the journey, the group heard a fight brewing between a group of sailors and farmers. Panther and Buntaro went to break up the fight, but the farmers were getting ready to turn on Panther, who immediately defused the situation by drawing his swords.

After talking to the sailors, the group found out that the captain of the ship was arrested for having an illegal drug and was ostensibly awaiting execution. Adanole asked why they needed a captain when ships always have a First Mate, to which the sailor told the trio an old sailors' myth that stated "Any ship that sets sail without a captain is doomed to be sunk by a great sea beast while any ship without a female captain would merely have a rough journey." Buntaro and Panther decided to approach the ship at Adanole's suggestion to find out an estimate for when they planned on leaving. Adanole stayed behind to chat up the sailors and keep them from getting into too much trouble during their drunken stupor.

Upon reaching the ship, Panther decided to talk to the First Mate with Buntaro following. Upon getting to the First Mate's office, the pair encountered a female who declared "Don't bother trying, this job is mine." After talking for a while with the First Mate, Panther and Buntaro were told that the First Mate planned on abandoning his former Captain to her fate and was in the process of hiring a replacement Captain. The two candidates were Smiling Lion, a male Captain who only had one failed voyage due to a mutiny after being caught in a storm and Lovely Crimson Pearl, the female the pair encountered. According to the First Mate, Pearl was an incompetent Captain because she had many disastrous voyages due to her making foolish decisions or plotting courses incorrectly.

The First Mate was leaning towards Smiling Lion due to Pearl's dubious qualities while Panther wanted to have Pearl as the Captain because for the increased morale a female Captain would have on the superstitious sailors. Panther engaged the First Mate in a brief argument, which resulted in Panther's guile convincing the First Mate that Pearl would be more suitable for the expedition.

==Turn that Frown Right Side Down==

Panther and Buntaro quickly made their way back to the tavern where Adanole was hanging out with the sailors. Panther approached the sailors to tell them that Pearl was hired as the new Captain and to be ready to set sail in the morning. Upon overhearing the conversation, a rather large man approached Panther and asked him what he said, to which Panther repeated himself. After hearing that, the large man revealed his identity: Smiling Lion to him and told Panther that he'd better convince the First Mate to change his mind while several midgets busted out pogo sticks and appeared ready to fight Adanole and Buntaro. When Panther refused Lion's request, the battle was joined. The pogo midgets pulled out short swords and Smiling Lion dropped his cloak, revealing a Razor Harness.

Buntaro quickly grabbed one midget off of his pogo stick and hurled him at a midget that was harrying Adanole, knocking both midgets out of the fight. Adanole then swept the pogo stick from under the midget next to him, hurling it into the table leg. The table then flew up and brought the midget down under its weight as well as Adanole's weight after he jumped on top of the table to ride it down on top of the midget. Panther evaded a couple of attempted wrestling moves by Smiling Lion, but Panther failed to land a couple of hits of his own. Buntaro quickly grabbed the final standing midget and choked him out, leaving only Smiling Lion to stand against the trio. Smiling Lion finally landed a blow of his on Adanole, who used his training as a Falling Blossom to leap in the way of a shot intended for Panther. The punch proved only to be a minor graze to Adanole, who earned the first Lv. 3 stunt of the game by running on top of two table and then leaping off with a jump kick that carried ale mugs along with his furious wind.

Adanole payed for his showmanship when Smiling Lion grabbed him and power bombed him through a table. Having had enough, Panther ended the fight by pulling out his swords and cutting him across the back of his knees, quickly dropping him. Smiling Lion pleaded with Panther to stop as he had enough, but Panther took very little time to humiliate Lion by taking a marker and drawing a frown on his mouth and declared him to be "Frowning Lion." The magistrate came and arrested Smiling Lion and his entourage after the bartender testified that Smiling Lion started the fight and the group was instructed to go to his office to pick up the reward in the morning. Once it was morning, the group headed to the office to get the reward, which was the right to take one possession each from the confiscated equipment. Adanole sized up the objects, and a paired set of rings and a stone seemed special, so the group took the stone, the rings, and a money pouch before leaving.

==Into the Foxhole, Mega Entrance==

As Adanole, Panther, and Buntaro's ship landed, the Captain of their ship, Pearl remarked that something seemed wrong due to the port being a veritable ghost town. Pearl's thoughts proved correct when the group was attacked by several strange beings armed with Pickaxes and Flame Pieces. The battle against the strange assailants went well, but the enemies had the advantage of sheer numbers, to which the trio were thankfully aided by Ledaal Anako and Cathak Gunloc, who happened to be nearby. Many of the strange enemies were taken down due to Panther's bow and blade, Buntaro's strength, Gunloc's firewand, and Anako's magic. Adanole proved to be a liability in the battle, failing to destroy one of the strange machines and even taking significant scars of war in the process. As the machines fell into a state of certain defeat, the remaining machines flew away only to be replaced by a lone blue mechanical warrior with a hand cannon.

This new foe proved to be tougher than the first set of machines, singlehandedly forcing the 5 Terrestrials to give the battle all they had. At the start of the encounter, the Blue Gunman jumped into a hole, upon which Adanole followed and failed to connect with his specialized throwing knives. Panther soon followed while Buntaro was looking for the blue machine and Gunloc and Anako were aiming their shots and spells respectively. The lone machine summoned a ring of leaves to block Panther's arrows and then responded by summoning a floor of lava underneath Panther and Adanole, which Panther managed to jump up to avoid, Adanole not being as quick. Buntaro finally found the robot and proceeded to break off a chunk of the building that Gunloc and Anako were standing on and then threw it in the hole. Panther evaded with ease while the Blue Bomber took a grazing shot, with Adanole being knocked out and left dying.

Gunloc finally finished off the warrior with a well-placed shot from his firewand after Anako blasted him with Ice Hornets. After the robot dissipated into energy, the group remembered that Adanole was still trapped under rubble in the whole. Through deus ex machina, they managed to dig Adanole out and stabilize him before he died from his wounds.

==At A Deliberate Pace, Like Congress==
The party flew Anako's phoenix towards the city of The Lap hoping to avoid the siege wall that had been built around the peaceful city. En route, the party discovered to their horror that the robot army had taken slaves and were having them develop a large fortress in the desert along with a very large pair of feet easily the size of an opulent manor. The robots indicated that the party had been seen casting a pall over their already low moods. The party arrives at the lap and are introduced to a minor functionary who tells them the score. City officials are debating on whether or not to attack the robot army and he wants the party, as realm officials to turn the vote towards patience so that a reasonable answer may be sought. With this information, the party spends much time in deliberation as the phoenix stares at Adanole's smoldering body. Finally, Panther looks at his gemstone and discovers that it is the rare Gem of Transference, a one-use item that allows wounds to be transfered between bodies. He transfers Adanole's wounds into a robot dog bringing Adanole back from the brink of death.

With this the party spends more time in thought until the understandably impatient Adanole urges the party to action. The party decides to fly into the heart of the beast and destroy them from within.

affronts your honor you must, you simply must either strike them down
immedately or challenge them, depending on their station."

Byakuya bowed low and turned to leave, departing his ancestral home in
the crisp, foggy morning, bound for otosan uichi.

As he crossed the threshold, a bag fell at his feet. "Make sure it
lasts" said a voice like shifting sand, coming to the roof. A figure
in a brown cloak crouched there, a hood obscuring a red-and-white
painted face.

"I will" replied Byakuya, "your kindness will not be forgotten"

"Sure sure, the kami tell me you still have a role to play. Still, I
must be crazy to have been talked into this." the figure stood up and
paused for a second. "You know there's no cure, right?"

"I do." He threw on his traveling cloak.

"So what will you do now?" asked the figure.

"Anything I can"

A little farther down the road, Byakuya stopped at a small temple. He
went through the devotions, lighting insense and naming his ancestors,
even though he felt nothing. There were too many stains on both sides
of the veil.

"Soon." he told himself "Soon I will hear their voice, be it through
one way or the other..."

The Coronation of Conspiracy is an L5R game that I'm beginning that will begin in the year 1129, about one year after the Second Day of Thunder and a few years after the Clan Wars began. The former leader of a ronin army, Akodo Toturi, has ascended to be the first emperor was not a descendant of Hantei. As such, it is a momentous occasion as a new dynasty has begun. As the title suggests, the game is a samurai thriller and will have a lot of shadows and wrappings that the players must fully unravel if they wish to stop the Lying Darkness' grand scheme. The question will be posed however, "Should I really stop it?"
