Rolfball is the Hardholder of [[South Bend]], and benefits from its´ bullet farms as well as - lately - a drug business.

[[Mr. Static]] has less than fond memories of the man:

He'd been young then. So full of violence. Honestly, the Wizard was half responsible for keeping him from erupting at all hours, against friends and enemies alike. Every noise was the promise of a new attacker, every breeze carried the scent and promise of blood. He had been so afraid, and so enraged at that fear. Everything in the hot, bright world burned--only in the cool blues and placid grey hiss of snowfall was peace. He had thought himself inured to horrors.

Rolfball had changed his mind. Bullet farming, they called it, but Rolfball and his clan held ammunition in more than regard. Just as farming communities had their corn maidens, and hunters made shrines in the deep woods to spirits of the rustling leaves, bullet farmers had their rituals too. They would not call themselves a cult, just 'respecting local traditions'.

The Bullet Babies, they called them. Men and women alike would fossick amongst the ruins of the world that was hoping for unspent bullets, their million deep scattering pointing at a world before the Fall that bore iron to the multitudes, the crack of bullets unending like applause in a crowded theatre, that their offcasts might be this world's greatest currency.

Any wonder then that some pocketed a bullet or two from the common store, hoping to feather their own nest. A defence? An artisanal business? Some of both.

There was one punishment for this. Thankfully there were so many spent shell casings.

The bodies hung by the roadside, chained by their arms and left to dangle. Stripped to the waist, they were unmarked by wounds, noted only as odd by the gravid bellies, swollen with steel. One by one they had been force-fed the old casings, teeth broken out and jaws held fast by strong hands, until they swelled and stretched with the weight of metal in them. When the storm grew strong and the days grew hot, the older ones would burst in putrefaction, showing the dirt with gore-spattered metal, falling like showers of old coins.

An outpost mentioned by [[Dakota]].

Home to August and his followers, who were decimated by [[Dog]] for some crimes. They were often in conflict with [[Roark]] and her scavs for butting in on artifact digs, but has become more isolationist lately.

The name comes from the sign of the oldplace they inhabit, CHAPEL RECORD STORE. They have an old hand-cranked sound system that is the only one around - maybe at all - that can play music without it being blasted into glossolalia by the Storm. They can only play the records they have inside the store, so it is a closed system.

Being a source of music and beauty, they draw people who want to pay for the privilege and/or become initiates.

According to [[Lord B4]]´s informant Shepsi, they have joined with [[Dustwitch]] in her conspiracy against them.

The Ys woman chuckles dreamily, “Best Master of Ways there ever was, though. So it’s said.”

“So it’s said. He served many pirates and commodores in his day, knitting them together into the sisterhood we once were. He battled Peleps o’the Red Empire, conned Silent Pearl Silence, and it was his bold plan that drove the Sword-Saints to make truce with the Serpiente. He consulted with the kraken in the frozen ice of the Evernorth, and in his search, he took crews across the seas of hell and the underworld. Wherever he went, he marked the lore in his skin, with ink made of molten sunlight.”

“But his heart yearned for greater treasures. For the lost gold of the First Sailor, used to build the Gates of Dawn.” (ändrad)

Izinyana closes her eyes.

“Sangraemaneceur found the Gates, it is said, and in doing so, he broke all that he had built. Flush with pride and ambition, he called for a mighty fleet to take our sisterhood to glory.”

“They called their Waymaster to discuss his plans, hinting at their support, and when he came, that tontine of corsairs flayed their ambitious servant alive.”

Clotho pulls on her pipe, “The most careful knifework in the history of the world, or so it is said.”

“Each took a piece of his skin and his power. Skinless, dying, it is said Sangraemaneceur pronounced his final trick, and his curse. That his betrayers would kill each other for their prizes, and that the fragments would be scattered across the seas. That all their seeking would be for naught, as the map could not be read without keys he had scattered far and wide in his travels.” (ändrad)

The bald woman grows more furious in the telling, standing to her full height.

“He declared his sisters, the Serpiente, were unworthy, and so we’re all humanity. He foresaw that men and women would hunt his legacy forever, and it would bring the Dreaming to endless blood, unleashing anarchy greater than any the rakshasa had brought.”

The Corporal puts a gentle hand on her companion’s arm.

“You chided me for being expansive, Izinyana.”

The warrior woman hits her mug against the table.

The Corporal shrugs, leans back, and resumes her drinking.

Clotho reaches out and puts a digit in the green pearl, and rolls it beneath her finger.

Izinyana, face flushed, nods curtly, and turns back to Sparrow.

“Show us your skin, then.”

Sparrow pauses for a moment, feeling the eyes in her back, but thinking in for a pistole, she shrugs off her shirt.

The three women look on, eyes tracing the swooping lines and golden bands.

Far east of this place, on what was left of a blacktop eight-lane ribbon when the truck pulling the 'Firm had given up the last ghost amidst the rusted and eroded and half-buried cars abandoned there. Little Sioux couldn't reach the pedals and had tied cans to her feet so she could drive but it wouldn't go anymore and she couldn't make it go and had been stuck there for days and days more and more upset because this wasn't the right place to stop.

Then there's this woman getting out of a truck one morning and she's going car by car, tearing pieces out and putting them in her truck, and when she gets close to the truck-and-trailer she stops because she sees it doesn't look right. She's this old tough looking lady with a hat and wearing a gun.

So Little Sioux hid.

''Why does Pox cover up her face?''

Pox doesn't cover up her face. Pox wears a surgical mask. She wears it for the same reason that Sioux wears the caduceus and the 'Firm bears the Star of Life. It is a sign of affiliation with something positive; it is not hiding, it is flying a flag or wearing a badge. If Sioux is a whaddaya call one of them doctors then Pox is waddyacall a trauma nurse (like in the books Sioux has). She does not see any negative connotation to wearing the mask, and in fact feels (arguably correctly) that there are only positive ones. Sioux is the face of the 'Firm. Her face is not required -- her role is.
