curse dice pool reaches 0, the need to exert themselves as a force of nature takes over. The character shifts into a wild form heavily influenced by the Creature, being an elemental beast at its most mind-fracturing (imposing the Dazed status effect on any mortal who witnesses the shift if their bond rating with the Primal is lower than 2). The player assigns shifts based on the character’s Major Path. She suffers a Major Complication on her next action. If not bought off, the Creature dictates the kind of aggressive impulse the Primal should take. She cannot gain curse dice until this Damnation is resolved&lt;br /&gt;

As ceaseless predators, Primal feel the impulse to snarl, snap, lash out, and exert their primacy, no matter their surroundings. This may take the form of mental belittlement, social intimidation, or physical assault, with different impulses present in each Family’s Creature. Any time the character’s&lt;br /&gt;
curse dice pool reaches 0, the need to exert themselves as a force of nature takes over. The character shifts into a wild form heavily influenced by the Creature, being an elemental beast at its most mind-fracturing (imposing the Dazed status effect on any mortal who witnesses the shift if their bond rating with the Primal is lower than 2). The player assigns shifts based on the character’s Major Path. She suffers a Major Complication on her next action. If not bought off, the Creature dictates the kind of aggressive impulse the Primal should take. She cannot gain curse dice until this Damnation is resolved&lt;br /&gt;

The Primal must satisfy the elemental Creature’s impulse. She must complete an action that imposes at least 1 injury and a status effect that differs depending on her Major Path. Completing this action allows her to revert to her human form. The Primal recovers 1 curse die and resolves her Damnation. If the action inconveniences her crew, she gains 1 Momentum as well.&lt;br /&gt;

The World of Curses is much like our own, but...weirder. Such as here, where you were hired by a months-old branch office in a city that, were it not for magic and divination, probably would not exist.&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;quot;The Misty City&amp;quot;, &amp;quot;Boston&#039;s Oddball Sister&amp;quot;, and sometimes &amp;quot;Miami of the Snow&amp;quot;, due having a similar climate to its southern neighbor, and having the uh, eccentricity of Florida at times, Norwich is sometimes also called &amp;quot;Salem, but urban and with gargoyles.&amp;quot; It has a pretty good art scene, but it&#039;s well-known it was founded because of ecstatic visions more than anything about the north of Boston having useful material, and then, infamously, was the Greely Trial, which would have been the Norwich Witch Trials, except the second trial was of Patience Warren, wife of the extremely popular Elder Malcolm Warren, who flatly refused to believe the allegations against his spouse. What happened next turned the inherently tragedy of a witch hunt into an absolute farce as witnesses recanted their accounts, several tests were openly deemed heretical by religious authorities, a missing child was found alive and well (because he was a notorious runaway), and eventually, it came out that the primary source of the accusations, Luke Greely, was an adulterer, thief and scammer, who had accused the first woman largely to cover up an affair, as revealed by his own wife. While the fallout was not nearly as clean as the sanitized version of history where the Puritans realized how silly there were being and ran him out of town (in fact, a good quarter tried to counter-riot upon the declaration that he needed to leave), it did set the mood of the town, and later entire city going forward - Salem and Norwich seem to embrace witches as mascots, with Norwich being the place where &amp;quot;the place the Devil won his day in court.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;

This has led to it also being a place that also got permanently magnetized for curses - it&#039;s an open secret among Accursed it only exists due to magic influencing people, but the occult symbolism of the Greely Trial of &amp;quot;the holy managing to get its lawsuit tossed out for malicious prosecution&amp;quot; permanently made it a magnet for the Outside...which is good for the tourism board. Lots of news of the weird to put on the brochures.&lt;br /&gt;

Larger and more powerful entities (Space Marines, vehicles, etc.) get the benefit of Scale when compared to smaller ones. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When applying scale to two opposing forces or individuals, compare the sides’ levels and determine who is higher, and by how many levels. They get one of the following benefits on any rolled action against their lesser:&lt;br /&gt;
* +1 per level of difference to their action before the roll&lt;br /&gt;
* +2 per level of difference to the result after the roll, if the roll succeeds&lt;br /&gt;
* 1 additional free invoke per level of difference to the results of a successful Create Advantage action.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
For cases where a small size is an advantage - Stealth, etc. - the Scale difference works in reverse.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Corruption&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Corruption is a constant risk. Every character has a Corruption clock, with four segments. Each use of the following fills one Corruption segment:&lt;br /&gt;
* Use of an unsanctioned psyker power&lt;br /&gt;
* Use of a Corruption or Mutation Stunt&lt;br /&gt;
* Use/invocation of a Corrupted Aspect&lt;br /&gt;
* Many situations involving exposure to Corruption or the Warp.&lt;br /&gt;
When the four segments fill, one Aspect is Corrupted, and the player has to rewrite it. When all Aspects are Corrupted, the character becomes a monstrous NPC.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Corruption can be cleared by spending one session without using such powers/exposure to such situations, or by certain purification rites. A Corrupted Aspect cannot be restored, though.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Corruption and Mutation Stunts&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Characters with a Corrupted Aspect or Mutants can take Corruption or Mutation Stunts. These are roughly twice as powerful as regular Stunts (+4 instead of +2), but always require marking of your Corruption clock to use. == Setting Overview ==&lt;br /&gt;

Hisashiro City is a suburban city that faces the Pacific Ocean, and has a population of about 200,000. It takes about 90 minutes to get from here to Tokyo via Japan Rail. The city boasts an excellent fishing harbor, but modernization has turned the harbor into a major port that brings cargo ships with goods from overseas. The city has a fairly robust transportation system, and most people get around by bus or train.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Because of the numerous leylines Hisashiro City has, it&#039;s privy to various strange happenings that are supernatural in nature. As such, the city is also host to several organizations and groups that are well-aware of this, all of which have their own reasons for constantly monitoring the city from behind the scenes.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The most significant event in the city&#039;s history was the Scouring which occurred on November 1st, 16 years ago. People witnessed a massive pillar of flame in the mountain district to the north. The catastrophic event was not only localized to Hisashiro City. A sound resonated through the skies all across Japan and every shrine, temple, archaeological site, and burial mound was engulfed in a massive conflagration, a disaster that destroyed them utterly. They called this mysterious event the &amp;quot;Japanese Synchronous Inferno,&amp;quot; or more commonly, the Scouring.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Investigations at the time recorded accounts of a sound like beasts roaring just before the disaster and ripples witnessed in the skies. This explosive conflagration phenomenon seemed capable of tearing Japanese society apart.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
And yet, the damage done was strangely limited, focused almost entirely on shrines and temples. Fortunately, this happened in the middle of the night, so very few visitors or tourists were harmed. However, everything within a certain radius of each shrine and temple was totally immolated, obliterating many homes so thoroughly that it wasn&#039;t even possible to recover the bodies.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Today, people have rebuilt the burned shrines and temples and constructed new houses to replace those lost, so that there&#039;s scarcely any sign of the disaster. The Scouring is nonetheless a singularly ghastly event in the history of Japan and for that matter the world, and it left a deep impression on the memories of mankind. The government launched a thorough investigation at the time, but found no useful clues. The investigation thus continues to this day.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Itsutsunomiya Tech High School&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
This is Hisashiro City&#039;s only technical high school. It doesn&#039;t have a very good reputation around the city, but the school&#039;s sports clubs have brought home national championships. Also, the school uses gakuran and sailor fuku. There are old private homes around here. There were a series of unexplained, possibly magical crimes here, and the culprit was never caught.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;St. Martha Institute&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
This school for girls is renowned even outside the city. It&#039;s a missionary school with lavish dormitories. The school&#039;s distinctive black and white uniforms are popular among the boys in town.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Nanamori Academy&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
This public high school in central Hisashiro is the result of a recent consolidation of other schools. The new school buildings are beautiful, and while the campus is pretty typical overall, it does have nice dorms close by, so that it attracts new students from outside the city.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Hisashiro University&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
This national university&#039;s campus is not just here on the mainland, but includes facilities by Taihaku Station and on Hisashiro Island and Inayama Island. The university&#039;s Film Club has been shooting movies around the city, and the rumors swirling around them have made the club famous.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Hisashiro University Academy&#039;&#039;&#039;&lt;br /&gt;
This is the city&#039;s leading prep school. It&#039;s famous for high scores and being hard to get into. However, ouija boards became a fad among the students here for a while, and it&#039;s rumored that the boards were the cause of an outbreak of madness among them.&lt;br /&gt;

It has been two years since the Last War ended, four years since the nation of Cyre was destroyed in the Mourning, an act that shocked the continent of Khorvaire into laying down their arms. The kingdom of Galifar is no more. In the wake is a time of uncertainity. Nobody know what this new peace will bring. Whether it will be temporary, or long lasting. Whether the nations will settle into their borders, or decide to try to reforge the old crown. But while it is a time of concern, it is also a time of hope. Peace has restored relations and travel between nations. Business thrives and looks to new markets.
