Lanterntown is a location in my Exalted campaign RttToFC

To my players: I am including only broad, general information on this area. To find out more, you'll have to investigate!

For a more detailed map of Lanterntown, go here: Lantertown Map
Location
Lanterntown is sprawled across a tributary of the River of Tears, approximately 300 miles southwest of Sijan. It is built on the ruins of a First Age outpost. The few pieces of functioning technology are what give Lanterntown its name.

Population
Lanterntown is home to nearly 40,000 people. A large number of traders pass through it every day.

Industry
Lanterntown's best known, and best selling, export are their lanterns. Available in almost any shape, size, or design, these lanters require no fuel, can glow with any color the maker desires (or for the more expensive versions, shift color at the command of the owner), and can last for years. More exotic lanterns are capable of warding off spirits, finding paths home, or even following the trail of someone who has passed by recently.

Guild of the Nitumen
The Guild of the Nitumen is the professional group of lantern makers. They jealously guard their secrets and technology, and have an entire mercenary company hired solely to protect their facilities. Members are sworn to secrecy, and violators frequently meet with accidents.

Lanterntown Merchant Association
Ostensibly a social group for merchants permanently based in Lanterntown, this association is controlled by the six or seven richest merchants in the town. They are the main buyers of the Nitumenian lanterns.

God of Lanterntown
The god of Lanterntown is named Lokan, though he has not been seen in nearly a hundred years.

Business Transactions
All business transactions, be it the simple purcahse of food, or an entire shipload of lanterns, must include a prayer or devotion to Lokan. This is by order of Council of Ministers, and has been in force for over a hundred years. It is the one law that is strictly enforced, and everyone must abide by it, including those who are just passing through.

General Information
Lanterntown is a location in my Exalted campaign RttToFC

To my players
I am including only broad, general information on this area. To find out more, you'll have to investigate!

The Circle came together almost six months ago, and you had Exalted several months before that. Guided by dreams, and seeming happenstance, all of you came together in the area around Nexus.

Your first adventure together was to hunt down and eliminate a large, well-organized group of bandits, led by the Barrow King, that had been robbing trade caravans coming south towards Nexus for months. Additionally, they had been extorting exhoribtant "protection" fees from surrounding villages, under threat of attacking the villages themselves.

Several of the most wealthy merchants of the smaller towns north of Nexus pooled their wealth, and hired you to eliminate the threat. They had no idea that you were Solars, and simply thought of you as a mercenaries.

The tracking of the bandits, and their destruction, took all of you several weeks to accomplish. Pleased beyond measure, the merchant group paid you in jade, and resumed their business.
