==Guild Charter==

The Pig and Whistle Society is...

*A social guild which supports rpg.net members, friends and family
*A guild which exists to give like-minded players an avenue for their particular game enjoyment to intersect, converse, and group together to achieve goals, quest, level, PVP and do raid progression at a reasonable pace.
*A guild which upholds the ideals of "Pay it forward" and "Don't be a dick".

We ask members of the guild

*To be mature. If you have a concern, please bring it up with an officer or mentor.
*To be friendly. Please help your fellow guild members.
*To be supportive. Be patient, and impart what you've learned about the game.

==Guild Philosophy==

This is really important. As mentioned above, the guild has the ideals summed up as "Pay it forward" and "Don't be a dick".

The very best moments in this guild are when people are willing to help each other out, because they want others to enjoy the game. Helping others is really the lifeblood of the guild. The more people help each other out, the more people are made happy by that help and ''pay it forward'' to others, the more we will all have a positive and harmonious experience playing the game.

This isn't always easy to maintain, but I know that you can all do this. Help keep this an awesome guild, or make it even better.

The flip-side of that is, ''don't be a dick''. Pretty simple, really!

==A List Of Things To Know==

* The P&W is mainly made of tabletop gamers, and their friends and family. We began on the forums of rpg.net, and a lot of us are active posters there.
* The P&W is not a RP guild, but you need to pick a name for your character that matches roleplaying expectations. (Please see below.)
* We like it when people type full words and sentences. We do not like leet speak and text message abbreviations. (Also, see below.)
* The guild is run by the Guild Master (Aylfric), the Officers, and Mentors, in cooperation together.
* You need to join the guild forum or be a member of rpg.net to be promoted to the second rank and access the guild bank.
* You need an authenticator to be promoted to the third rank.
* The /rpgnet channel is for almost all messages. Guild chat is for linking items and in-character conversations.
* The guild bank has tabards and bags for you! Also gear, food, crafting supplies, and other useful items.
* We will help you buy your mounts when you hit levels 20 and 40.
* We run dungeons together all the time. Use the forums to coordinate runs!
* Know the guild loot rules.
* Be proactive and get more out of the game!
* The Vent info is listed in Guild Information in the game.

==About Names==

Names matter. Or, you could say, we're a bit concerned about names. Kirin Tor is a roleplaying server, even if little roleplaying goes on there, and a lot of the Pig & Whistle Society is made up of rpg.net forum members, and the guild continues to exist to serve that forum's community. In general, we expect players to pick character names which sound like actual names rather than forum IDs. "Squeakybob" wouldn't go over so well. "Bob" would be fine. Of course, "Bob" is a pretty boring name, but it's clearly a name. If you're stuck, try using the random name generator on the character creation screen. You may have to hit it a bunch of times to get something you like, or you might see something which inspires you to come up with a similar name that you really do like.

We're not jerks. You may see some character names in the guild which skirt the edge of this. That may well be because people heard about the guild and paid money to transfer their characters over to Kirin Tor to join us, and in that context it'd be rude to tell them to rename their characters if there is only a slight problem with their names.

It should be noted, though, that it's a bit of a guild pastime to share and groan over some of the bad names that other people pick for their characters on the server.

There is a little more leeway for a couple of character types: gnomes tend to have silly names, so somewhat sillier names are allowed. But there is a point at which an officer may say they feel your suggested name is just too silly; if so, please try to think of something else. The second category are death knights, who have gone through the process of becoming part of the Scourge and then becoming free; they might choose a different name at that time.

Some suggestions:
* Please don't use accented characters in your name. It makes it impossible to easily type your name.

==Language==

We encourage everyone to use as full English as possible when talking with other guild members, because it's how we communicate. If you usually use a lot of "netspeak" in online chat, we ask you to please reconsider that when with the guild. A lot of us are older, and have an averse reaction to netspeak. Trust me: you'll get a better reaction from the guild if you don't use as many online abbreviations.

On the other hand, there are a lot of WoW acronyms and jargon which are common and useful, so they are accepted. If you don't understand one, ask and we'll be happy to spell it out.

== More Info==

This is not the complete guild charter. The rest of the charter (contained loot rules and other stuff) can be viewed on our guild forum. You'll need to contact someone in game or by PM on rpg.net for the address, as we're trying to keep the site hidden and spammer-free.

Lananshee: /* Officers */

==Overview==
The Pig & Whistle Society, also known as the Pig & Whistle Explorers Society or the Pig & Whistle Drunken Explorers Society (and of course, the Pig and Whistle Society), is a World of Warcraft guild open to all members of the RPG.net forums, as well as their friends and family. It is a sister guild of sorts to the [[Blacksky Company]]. While the two guilds are by no means friendly in game, out of game they should be friendly and cooperative.

The Pig and Whistle Society is an Alliance-side guild, based on the North American Kirin Tor Roleplaying server.

Members are expected to assist each other, and to be civil to each other out of character. Normal speech is to be used (no leet-speak!), and all efforts to correct spelling, and grammar will be appreciated.

Guild activities include questing, dungeon-running, 10-player raiding, retro-raids, and battleground PVP. There are a few people who are involved in arena PVP as well. Once a year, for the guild's birthday, there are a variety of fun and silly events which take place, like costume contests.

News and discussion about the guild takes place in the Video Games Open forum on RPG.net. Relevant topics will begin with the [WoW - P&W] tag. We also have our own private forum where a lot of internal guild activity gets discussed. You don't have to join the P&W forums, but they're certainly a handy read, and include important information on the structure and activities of the guild.

To find the guild forum, check the Guild Info while playing the game. We were getting tons of spammers hitting the site, so we had to move it to a seeecret location.

==Guild Rules==
This section of the '''[[Pig & Whistle Society Charter]]''' tells you more about guild rules and policies. If any guild rules are a problem for you, contact a guild officer, or the guild leader directly.

If you're creating a new character to join the P&W, '''please''' check the section "About Names" in the charter.

==In-Game Background==

Eli Langston formed The Pig & Whistle Explorers Society over 200 years ago, as a gentleman's club of sorts; a group of noblemen, adventurers, rogues, explorers and ne'er do wells centered in the famous pub in Stormwind. Over the course of the Society's storied history the charter has changed hands many times, lost in gambling matches, sold to get rid of debt, taken over by overzealous members. No one actually knows the entire history of the Society.

About 30 years ago, Giz'nit Cranksprocket, a goblin in the employ of the Venture Company, won the leadership of the Pig & Whistle Society in a rigged game of cards. Giz'nit turned the Society into more of a professional treasure hunter's organization, with members traveling to dangerous remote places in search of the fabulous wealth rumored to be hidden there.

Upon forcibly retiring a decade ago, Giz'nit passed the reigns of the Society on to Olaf Ironbeard, the Society's bravest explorer. Olaf was last seen heading to the Isle of Dread two years ago. After his disappearance, the Pig & Whistle Explorers Society went their separate ways, some milling about, others travelling the world on their own. The Society was thought disbanded.

Some years ago, Nyssala, a night elf who had barely left the forest confines of her home, discovered a dwarven corpse in a Furbolg cavern in Darkshore. Investigating, she found a piece of parchment on the body. The paper proclaimed it's bearer as owner and administrator of the Pig & Whistle Explorers Society. Not sure what to do with this, she sent word out that old members could return and new members were welcome; and she set out to Stormwind City, where the Society began two centuries ago.

Since then, the Pig & Whistle Society has taken on more of it's original flavor. Members are free to travel the world largely as they see fit, seeking out lost and ancient treasures, uncovering mysteries, exploring dangerous locales, and traveling the world in search of adventure, fame and fortune.

Last year, Nyssala left Darnassus in a rush. She chartered a ship from Auberdine, and has not been seen since. In her study were found incomplete notes which referred to the Twilight Hammer, but her whereabouts and fate are a mystery. In her absence, Aylfric, a night elf veteran of the war with the Horde in Ashenvale, has taken over leadership of the guild.

==Officers==

The officers and the guild master run the guild together.

Officers have invitational powers, as well as access to the officers' notes and players' notes (to add new RPGnet handles if they invite). Officers are responsible for organizing guild activities, keeping discipline in the ranks, and if the Guild Master is not present to handle minor issues and grievances. They represent the general needs of players in their class. All officers' alts are also promoted to Officer.

Mentors are a sort of limited officer position for people who have been recognized as knowledgeable and helpful to others in the guild.

Officers and mentors are selected based on their helpfulness, positivity, and similar qualities.

==Guild Bank==

The Guild Bank can be accessed at any in-game bank. There's lots of space to deposit items to benefit other guild members, and things to take to help you out.

The first tab of the guild bank contains free bags to equip your characters with, as well as guild tabards. If you need a hand, the Guild will provide you with the price of a mount and training. We will pay this out to one character per player, unless you pay it back, at which point the money is open to another one of your characters.

Due to a number of hacker attacks, an authenticator is now needed to get full bank access. This can be demonstrated to an officer or mentor by showing them your Core Hound pet in-game.

==Crafting==

The Pig & Whistle society boasts many skilled crafters. The following pages list specific patterns that different guild members have. More information about what crafting is available can be found in the P&W forums.
