Helmund was raised in a remote Nazi jungle refuge somewhere (he doesn't know where) in South America. Unlike most of the children there he was raised to be fairly open to new viewpoints, in fact he was raised to be so openminded the wind could blow through. Henrich Gunderson, an Ubermensch genius, had ordered the community to raise more potential Beholden, who need to be accepting of strange data. In Helmund he had an ideal one, nothing seemed to phase him in the least. At age 14 Helmund started work in the lab.
Initially Helmund worked well at the lab and absorbed a lot. He began to experience strange effects, knowing things before being told, things being conviently where he needed them to be, repairing complex components with little difficulty and being able to anticipate what Gunderson wanted from an understanding of his theory far advanced from what it should be. After 4 years however they hit a hitch. Gunderson's attempts to build a detector for humans of superior genetics kept coming up with natives, blacks and even at one point, a Jew. On a hunch Helmund set the genetic detector to trace the relatives of the people detected, figuring they might have a common Ayrian ancestor. Instead he found that their genetics led back to David Smith an 18th century Jewish explorer, scientist, lecher and probable Genius. If it had been anyone else in the settlement they would have denied their own results, but Helmund had been scientifically raised to accept strange ideas.
Then he had his own, what if human development wasn't racial, but caused by a small group of highly genetically superior males that traveled widely, spreading their excellent seed through whole continents? This group he called the 'Magadhi'* rejected the security of the herd, surviving mostly alone until they could find a group, impregnate as many of it's females as possible and move on. To test out this theory Helmund made a modified genetic detector out of parts Gunderson thought too low quality to use. This led him to a dungeon cell with an asiatic prisoner, Tsu Ming. After questioning him about his ancestry to make sure he wasn't related to David Smith Helmund made a decision. If Gunderson was wrong then everything they were doing wasn't advancing human potential, indeed was acting against it by forbidding the Magadhi from breeding as widely as possible. Giving the prisoner a bunch of spare parts and seeing if he could escape with them was a simple test. If he didn't Helmund could always just take the parts back and never mention it.
Tsu immediately constructed a Katastrofi device and blasted out of his cell. Helmund ran to tell Gunderson of his theory and it's (in his mind) irrefutable confirmation. He anticipated that Gunderson would react with wonder and admiration and immediately abandon his racist theories, just like Helmund did. Gunderson instead went for the plasma gun. If Helmund hadn't taken the precaution of wearing a belt forceshield (in case Tsu something up while he was on the other side) he'd have been dead. Instead there was a battle through the complex with whatever weapons anyone could pick up. Mostly it was fought amoung barrels of reAcid, plasma capacitors and other things you shouldn't point weapons at. When it was over Tsu's friends had found the beacon he had constructed from Helmund's spare parts (and the obvious smoke column) and picked them both up. Helmund has been eager to learn of the outside world and is a quick study. His racial beliefs disappeared instantly, as that's how his mind was trained to work, something's wrong, reject it.
Helmund was raised in a remote Nazi jungle refuge somewhere (he doesn't know where) in South America.

"I'm going to create a PC for every game I own. I need to honor all those lonely forgotten games on my shelf." - chaldfont, in this thread.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.<br>

How It Works
Simple: create a character for each game you own, and post them up, with any commentary you wish to add, right here. Set whatever other rules for yourself that you wish (e.g. whether or not to let the dice fall as they may, whether to count all settings and/or splatbooks for one system as separate games or not, et cetera) or just make it up as you go.

For ease of reference, the archive is sorted into two lists: the first arranged by game; the second arranged by creator, in the order of creation.

Characters Sorted By Game
Lord Lycanthrope:

I put up the Alchemie Guild material and I'm expanding on one or two character references I placed there.

Let's 'deTolkeinize' the setting a bit. We'll still have the usual assortment of favorite races, but let's tweak them a bit. Make them a bit more memorable by breaking stereotype.

(agreed, for all races, perhaps we can create multiple sub-races within each species)

Specifically, I see elves as the bad guys here. Not inherently evil or demon worshiping or anything classifiable as absolute damnable evil, but they aren't benefactors and they don't mind if the other guy loses so long as they win. They just used to be top of the food chain hereabouts until a human/dwarven alliance shunted away a good deal of their political power. Quite a few elves remember when they had their boot on the neck of the Gnomes and the other races kowtowed to them, and they LIKED it like that.

There are certainly exceptions, noble champions and kind mentor types, but by and large elves are aristocratic, rich, old guard and expect the other (inferior) races to know their place.

Specifically, up until about 40 years ago, Gnomes were largely slaves of the Elves. The cause of this was a war dating back more than 400 years ago.

While they are not quite as strong politically in the city, they have wealth, traditional power and an old boys network dating back 3 millenia.

Dwarfs
Elves
Humans
The three main ethnic groupings of humans are Magii-gak, Vanir and Sophantii. There is little intra-species ethnic discrimination other than a slight reluctance of non-Magii-gak to marry or have children with Magii-gak.

Humans are the second shortest lived and fastest breeding race in the city after Orcs. Longer-lived races form decades- or centuries long business, social and political links. As a substitute humans have a system of family honour designed to preserve reputation and connection through generations. Sons and daughters, especially the eldest surviving ones are expected to be follow in their father's and mother's footsteps (respectively) and act "pass on the honour to the next generation". They just used to be top of the food chain hereabouts until a human/dwarven alliance shunted away a good deal of their political power. This has been accomplished in large part due to Magii-gak help in violent revolts around AF 1400.

Lord Lycanthrope: /* Society */ Correcting figures.

History
The Mage District was originally the Magii-gak ghetto. About 500 AF the Magii-gak faced blatant ethnic hatred based on their inherent magic talent. At the time they were the only humans capable of significant non-religious magic. They were accused of worshipping demons and their movements, residence in the city and economic rights restricted. They were forbidden to earn money in almost any trade (other than sewerage maintaince and usury. This intensified their reliance on magic as they were forbidden to earn money in almost any other way. Major magics being worked all in the same area caused unexpected and sometimes dangerous effects. During the period it was a ghetto an average of 12 people died or disappeared each year from these effects. Not all were actually harmed, some just went somewhere and eventually came back. Things like Echoes, Devourers and spontaineous meldings still occur with some frequency.

About 1500 AF the restrictions on Magii-gak were eased as more and more humans learned to use non-religious magic. In particular the Church of Kasdelosud started using non-religious magic to enhance the abilities of it's demon-fighters. The derogatory short form of Magii-gak "Mage" had come to mean both the neighbourhood they lived in and anyone who used magic that didn't come from the gods. The Magii-gak spread throughout the city but during periods of unrest or persecution many move back to the Mage district where there is safety in numbers.

Economics
The mage district is still the main (but not the only) area to get non-religious magic. Other services offered here are bodyguards and mercenaries with (claimed) ability to handle magical opponents, and servants who are prepared to accompany their masters into dangerous areas and cartography.

When hiring servants in this area it is important not to mistake their purchased courage for loyalty. The fact that they are prepared to make your breakfast in the middle of a cursed forest and travel with you over the edge of the world should not persuade you that they will not access to your letters for trivial amounts or lie straight to your face about how much supplies really costed. Do not assume they will commit crimes for pay either. But don't assume they wouldn't.

In general it is a middle class district, except for the southern part where you can hire aforementioned servants.

Society
The area is about 50% human of which 70% is Magii-gak. The other 50% is about 15% elvish, 5% Dwarf, 20% Gnome and a smattering of miscellaneous races.
