I was hapy to see everyone show up, though Bill informed me that he would not be able to attend after this week. Other than that, everyone seemed ready to roll.

I personally, had prepared for what I assumed would be the

Getting the Party Started
This weeks session kicked off with the characters attempting yet more legwork on Kokori Sakura's bodyguard and the seeming level of security she possessed, as well as the arrangement of a safe-house to hide out in. There was also a great deal of discussion as to whether the job seemed to hard and vague, and whether they should just walk away.

Ultimately the discussion, and original plan, was shot right to hell when Mark decided to hack the bodyguards cyberware, which I warned him was always notoriously difficult and that cyberware has a naturally high firewall. When he failed miserably and was detected by the bodyguard's IC program all hell broke loose, and they bodyguard alerted his cohorts and began to evacuate Ms. Sakura as a response to an active threat. Meanwhile, the IC program began to attack Mark, but luckily for him, did not jam his signal and begin to really cause him to have a bad day. He did however sustain some serious damage to his comm and take a good beating. When he finally decided to get out, he dumped out and blew his dumpshock roll, in the process loosing his lunch. After which he informed the rest of the party, and they realized they had to act quickly if they were to succeed in their abduction.

Carlos took to the VIP elevator in a attempt to intercept Ms. Sakura and her escaping bodyguard, while the others moved to the main exit. He succeeded and started a fight with the bodyguard, whom quickly decided that the Phys-ad was out of his league, and decided to attempt to end the fight in the fastest method possible, by shooting Carlos. He, however, failed and was knocked unconcious, quickly followed by Ms. Sakura, whom seemed dazed by what had just transpired.

When the rest of the party caught up, an alarm had been sounded due to the gun being fired in the club and people were beginning to panic. Carlos' was distraught to find that the coat/weapon check booth had dropped a sheet of bulletproof glass in order to keep an fray from escalating, and loosing his checked katana in the process. The characters then decided it best to beat a hasty retreat out the fire exits, rather than the front door, as Ms. Sakura's limo had just pulled up outside and two more armed guards got out.

I had informed them in the last session that a Lone Star Precinct was close by to the club and that they had an average of five minute response time, so they acted quickly and used Mr. Bluesky's social adept abilities to move the crowd and escape. Validus and Yuri decided to try escaping by another exit, and were trapped in the crowd until Lone Star arrived to secure the scene. Bluesky, Carlos, and Nexx all escaped to steal a car and leave the scene with the unconcious Ms. Sakura, but Validus and Yuri were forced to remain and go through routine checks by Lone Star law enforcement. Yuri got away scott free, but Validus was held under suspicion of drug or BTL use due to the fact that he was covered in vomit and his nose and ears were bleeding from his engagement with the Black IC program.

Bluesky, Carlos, and Nexx got back in touch with Yuri after a short while of laying low, and contacted a street doc to remove any of Kokori's RFID identification, and disposed of her commlink. Meanwhile, Validus was processed and interrogated ruthlessly by Lone Star in an attempt to discover his recent interaction with Hot Sim, and then discovered that he was obviously involved in the kidnapping, and that he had a previous conviction and Criminal SIN. He was then threatened at gun point to give up his comrades, and proceeded to break and rat on the entire party, and their contacts.

The rest of the party met up with Bluesky's Russian mafia contact at their procured safehouse and got them in with little or no fuss, and no hint as to their intentions. Once inside he made like any good junky and locked himself in the master bedroom, where he proceeded to sniff some Novacoke. The others revived Kokori, and after frightening her, and an attempt to escape her abduction, she was tied to the bed and gagged.

Post Game
This session went fairly well, there was a good amount of action and play, and the characters had a chance to get a lot accomplished. Mark's failure got all the players focused and in the action, though they perhaps left a lot more evidence than they might have liked, including being caught on multiple camera's throughout the club. This coupled with Validus turning states evidence and ratting them out will definately create some serious problems for the party in the future.

I am sorry to have informed Mark that his character is completely out of the game save as an NPC, and will probably never be seen again for one reason or another. I am also sorry to see Bill go at such a critical time, especially because he seems to have taken the "leader" role well in the party. I hope to fill my last two seats in the near future, and diversify the party a bit more.

I only wished I did not have to keep jumping between the characters so much, hopefully I can get back into the swing of running a larger party soon, and avoid jumping around so much.

Player Comments
The more I get to "know" this girl the more I like her! She's feisty! Sure she kicked Yuri in the goalpost... But so what? He still hasn't even proved he has one! What in the name of corporate sponsorship is she doing leashed to Mitsuhama? We done her a favor. Just wait... She'll come around. The leather restraints are for her own good. Hey, has anyone seen the wired guy we went into the club with? Where'd he get to?
-Carlos

Validus? I don't even know what happened. I had a case of 'bad soy burger' and had to run to the can and was pretty much in there until the people started panicking.
I'm sure he'll turn up. If not, we'll have to pull him out of whatever situation he's in after we get paid. He seems pretty useful, and having him owe us some favors won't hurt us either.
Pre Game
We all got a chance to get together and go over the characters everyone has prepped for the game, as well as get a majority vote on what I believe has created a very nice well balanced team. I'm sadly distraught with some players usual lack of interest or willingness to try something new, and surprise of surprises, it came down to getting them involved in the committee character vote and producing a worthwhile character, though most everyone finally got things to work. Regardless, I am happy with the over all balance of the team, even though I explained to everyone that even though I may knitpick the characters based on what I deem as flaws and would make suggestions as to what I think would be preferable, what they deem as a "worthwhile" team member is purely up to their judgement.

Dance Party Classics
I brought the characters together in what, I believe to be, a fairly simple and easy way to get them rolling; Have a major hiring contact of a social player-character organize them all, and then put the most social character in charge of contacting them. This seems to have he best results, and creates a chance for the characters to roleplay.

I feel that perhaps a bit more prep on my behalf would have been better, and though I had prepped an opening speech ahead of time, for my mysterious villian, I could not find my notes. This perhaps led to a bit more apprehension on the players behalf than I had expected, and they spent a great deal of time doing legwork, which I admired for their persistence and inventiveness, but was perhaps a bit excessive. I was expecting them to begin acting more quickly to create a plan and implement it given the limited in game time. These things happen though.

I am, however, happy to see that they seemed to have made an effort at creating a balanced team and that they seem to be working well.
Ok... I still don't get it. So was she actually paying to have herself kidnapped? I really can't tell. I like the club, too! My kinda place. Just slightly rough around the edges. I wish I didn't have to give up the Naefu. (It's my katana) That sword knows me dammit.
Two Left Feet
Pre Session
The game this week was delayed slightly due to personal car trouble, and the fact that we had to go through anothe character evaluaion due to Mark's previous character "disappearing". I suggest that all the players from this point on produce and attempt to put and replacement characters on this page before the game begins so that we can evaluate them ahead of time, and start the game with little or no fuss.

This session has taken little prep, and I have left much in the characters hands in an effort to get them to be self motivating. The lack of Bill has left me with an interesting conundrum, and two empty seats that I still want to fill, though integrating new players might be a little difficult. I'm sure I'll find a solution.

Stepping on Her Feet
This session saw the charcters now caught with the problem of having just finished restraining their victim, Ms. Sakura, and contacting Bluesky's Fixer contact, Paku, in order to get their next instructions from their mysterious Mr. Johnson.

Johnson informed them that they were to be the ones to contact Kokori's father and handle the negotiations for 200,000 nuyen, of which they would get half, and that the Johnson would not be able to handle this himself due to "relation problems". They were sent an ecrypted message to deliver and the corresponding decryption file for it. But due to the lack of someone computer savvy they were forced to find another hacker. Mark had provided a technomancer/simsense amateur-pornstar as his replacement character, and the party was put in contact with her to do a spoof job and deliver the data-package.

After a few failed attempts on Erinye's behalf, Her and Yuri decided it would be better implemented from the mafia safehouse, and so headed back. Meanwhile, Carlos and Nexx ungagged Kokori and attempted, poorly, to engage in a discussion about the morals of their current choice of employment, and the need of their hostage to take certain biological liberties such as water, food, clean clothes, and use of a bathroom. When Erinye arrived she was shocked by the poor treatment the other three were giving Ms. Sakura, and demanded that she be allowed to at least use the bathroom. The boys accepted after a quick altercation, and Erinye seemed to have calmed the situation down and gotten Kokori to be more cooperative with her captures. She was even given a beer while the characters discussed the next plan of action.

This quickly came to an end when Erinye went to procure the girl something to wear while in captivity, and the boys decided that they would be better served with Kokori again tied to the bed. They then proceeded to chase eachother around the house as she pelted them with pieces of furniture, and slipping out of Carlos' grip repeatedly. When she realized that Yuri was standing confusedly in the corner(after critically glitching his initiative roll), and was armed, Kokori turned the tables on them by taking him hostage with his own gun. Luckily Carlos still had actions remaining and proceeded to pounce on the two of them and knock Kokori unconcious with a hard blow and a shock from his shockfrill jacket.

When Erinye eventually came back with a set of generic "flats"; generic, disposable, biodegradeable clothes that can be gotten out of any stuffer-shack vending machine, she returned to Carlos holding the unconcious Kokori's head and dabbing blood from it with a wet towel. The other two had left in order to locate and steal a minivan, to what purpose I have yet to see.

Lastly, Nexx was contacted by the Johnson and informed that they would be provided with a commlink with which to commence hostage negotiations, and decided to have it delivered to their safehouse. With this we concluded the session.

Post Game
I had high hopes that perhaps the characters were going to try and befriend Kokori during this session, rather than antagonise and continue to abuse her. They are, however, quickly learning that she is not to be underestimated in a fight, and is in fact a relatively adept martial artist who has regularly resisted being grappled, though she has failed to really hurt anyone except for Yuri, and him only temporarily. I am also hopeful for the intoduction of Mark's new character, who seems to be genuinely interested in keeping the hostage safe, and to be more well rounded and cautionary in the future.

I have to do a bit more prep work for next week, but the openess of this game limits my preparedness to only creating a number of scenes and encounters. I am interested in seeing what the players decide to do next.

Player Comments
Hey now! We fed her! We're not monsters! Well, OK I'm a monster but I still gave her food. Cheeseburgers are good for ya'! Gave her water, too! And plenty of it. But she doesn't seem to be getting the whole "we're doing you a favor" thing... And I'm really getting sick of explaining it to her. Oh, by the way: shouldn't someone go and dunk Blu's head in something 'til he sobers up. He's missing a lot of action here! Someone should at least tell him about the hacker going ratty. And speaking of hackers: Not that I don't like this new broad... 'cause I don't... but is someone keeping track of how many different "cuts" our money is going to go through before it gets to us?
-Carlos

Pre Game

-Carlos

And speaking of hackers: Not that I don't like this new broad... 'cause I don't... but is someone keeping track of how many different "cuts" our money is going to go through before it gets to us?
-Carlos

Speaking of money... wasn't the initial job to procure the 'package' only? I don't recall anything about having to deliver the 'package' or even negotiate with 'the customer'. Perhaps we need to talk to Mr. Johnson about a pay raise seeing as how this job is getting increasingly difficult and risky.
Background & History
Rob Michels was once a self-made man who managed to combine business with his love of racing as a freelance courier in the bustling streets of Seattle. With his top-notch (and risky) driving skills, Rob was fully capable of beating his competitors by offering impressive delivery times in a dicreet and professional manner. Rob also enjoyed making money by racing cross-country rallies for cash prizes.

His fateful moment was a particular delivery that turned his life around. Rob has a bad feeling in his gut as he took a job from a mysterious suit willing to pay a lot of money to make sure a package arrives at a specific time in the shady parts of town. Denying the job would be bad for business - he had no real choice to take it.

As luck would have it, a band of heavily armed thugs intercepted Rob en-route to the destination. He was used to this kind of thing, but something was very different, these guys were professionals. The thugs was able to take down Rob easily with their high-powered weapons and explosives. Whatever was in that package, it was very important to them.

With parts of his bike scattered across the highway, Rob laid torn and helpless with a dark figure, gun drawn, standing above him. Several shots rings out as Rob looks to his side only to see the dark figure laying beside him, staring blankly at him with dead eyes, to be saved by a local go-ganger group.

The go-ganers would not tolerate gunshots and explosions ringing through their highways without a cut. Not only that, they wouldn't let anyone harass a fellow biker. Rob was also very fortunate to be recognized by the sponsorship stickers proudly adorning his racing bike. Luckily for Rob, the go-gand leader, Mugface, happened to have won a generous sum of money in the underground sportsbook from Rob's latest placement in the latest race. Mugface felt a favor was owed, and anyways, nobody takes anyone down in his territory without his permission.

A favor indeed - the dead dark figure laying beside them was a notorious contract killer with a knack of doing whatever it takes to get the job done. Rob soon realized that he was set up moments before he lay unconcious as the DocWagon arrives.

Rob barely survived the attack only to live through radical reconstructive surgery, cyberware/bioware implants, and a troublesome rehabilitation. With his insurance money gone, his business dwindles as his reputation remains shattered. Now Rob waits for his to pick up his commlink to make some money.
