The Mirias Treaty was created on the unpopulated DMZ world of its name sake, “Mirias”, in 1034i. The official seat of government exists on Korvar. However a diplomatic station exists on Mirias for mostly ceremonial reasons.

The treaty upon which the current government was founded was originally written to control the hemorrhaging of arms to local militias from the Crean Empire period (851i – 1026i) and act as a rudimentary mutual defense clause of client worlds against organized and potent criminal bodies.

The Mirias Treaty authors consisted mostly of former Crean naval officers and acted as a sort of vigilante police force that has since colored local myth. By virtue of their actions, the treaty has since evolved into a loose governing body that provides economic support and security to the worlds that elect to be within the Treaty’s influence.

By 1047i the Mirias Treaty was the principle power of Ivanez and was key to winning the Jerralian War (1020i-1048i).

Since the publishing of the “Revised Dia de Trabajo” (1045i) and the formation of the Concordate on Sorigan (1048i) membership within the Treaty has been declining with most worlds converting to Concordate rulership. This slow erosion of power has caused the Treaty to respond hostilely against the Concordate as the militant nature of the Concordate is often perceived as a threat.

The Treaty is widely considered to be the most benevolent of governing bodies within the Ivanez region due in part to its liberal and constitutionally restricted trans-stellar powers. As such laws and regulations vary widely from world to world within the Treaty. Though travelers are often given the benefit of the doubt in most jurisdictions, it is wise to consult your travel advisor before planning any stays of considerable duration on Treaty worlds.
