It is clear that the association between dance and a sort of partial possession by higher forces was a near-universal between all the Manlike Races of the Priomordial age. This might fairly be expected from the Dragon Kings, who had possession as a major part of their culture, and the demon-races of The Dance Of Firey Spheres clearly have the principle of dance as fundamental to their souls. But even so varied a group as these, humans not in association with Draconic populations, and the Whirlpool Drowners of the West all have this clear tendency. Whether this is an argument for a greater metaphysical primacy of the Fiery Dance than previously believed, or for a fundamental change in the nature of divine exstasis, is not currently clear, but merits further research. On this note, I would like to call attention to your committee's delays in accepting my grant proposal.
It is, in this current age, to ascribe any and all historical attempts at a machine intellegence to the workings of the Primordial Autocthon. This is, of course, in addition to the tendencies to claim that he created humanity, the gods, the Exalted, sandwiches, the practice of domesticating animals, clockwork, mirrors, and all the gods. Clearly, we as scholars have gone too far in the direction of taking a convenient solution and using it to explain any and all mysteries of a particular sort.

For this reason, I am hesistant to accept the common view that the Tessian attempt to create the Echolocutax was in the main influenced by Autochonian emanations. I will grant that Tessian culture as a whole showed certain signs of Builder influence. But if that is accepted as sufficient evidence, then we must say that everything about them, from their form of dress to their distinctive pastries, was solely the work of Autocthon. Let us examine the evidence.

The Echolocutax was, I will grant, intended to be a thinking machine, or more precisely a prophecying machine, as seen through the Oracle of Tessia. But it was not at all in the mold of those surviving so-called Autochonian Engines. First, the operating principle of its construction was not the direct manipulation of essence. While I will grant that certain of its functions were no doubt related to small-scale essence shifts, according to the surviving section of the plans it did not produce these by the Autocthonian methodology of individual supernaturally-endowed components, but rather by the shifting patterns of the movements of elements that were not themselves endowed with any capacities. Clearly, the most obvious influence was astrology. I think that the combination of the use of clockwork (which alone, I grant, would be indicative of Builderian style), and the lack of sub-enchantment, and the high use of crystals, renders a parallel all too clear. No credible sources today claim the Varang astrological wheels to be the product of Primordial influence, and yet they are clearly the closest modern analogue. No doubt this was the product of some sort of cultural exchange with the so-called proto-Varang, before their northward migration.
During the Age of the Primordials, Dragon Kings were occasionally seized by a compulsion to engage in bizzare forms of dance. The dancers were called Bartoich, and were considered ill omens. The Dragon Kings felt that one so possessed was under the influence of the Mad Ones that stalked the world during this time. Yet, they also viewed the dancers as oracles of a sort. They watched the dances and attempted to divine meaning from them, often in the form of warnings.

The most famous of these warnings was the Prophecy of Cattabrinade, which was created when nearly a hundred Dragon Kings became Bartoich at once. The effects of this prophecy on Dragon King society were many and varied; one of the more important was that all Bartoich were killed as soon as they began dancing, lest the Dragon Kings once again come into possession of knowledge which is best left undiscovered.
Voluminous records of First-Age sholarship exist on this Primordial - more than any other - and thus it is a pity that almost all of it must be discarded, save as items of sociological curiousity. Most was by the Sun-Anathema who showed the most fervor in preventing his escape; a great volume of it was done at that time with the specific intention of arguing against the Great Geas on account of his supposed many contributions to civilization.

That said, as a Primordial he did create a voluminous amount of things. That he created sex, though false on its face, is almost certainly an exagerrated form of the fact that Kek'Tungsssha wrote eight-hundred and eight-eight of the Nine-Hundred and Ninety-Nine Universal Sexual Sutras.* The evidence collected by adventurer-archeologists indicates that the building now called the Palace of the Anathema* was of Primordial Age origin and a joint project of Autochthon and Malfeas, being only later repaired by Twilight Anathema. He had by choice little association with the other Primordials, and showed little compassion for his races.
When he was fifteen summers old, the Foulings*, dark spirits that still haunt our racial memories to this day, were loosed on his village.
To this day, the reasons behind the attempt by the Southern tribe of Dragon Kings to overthrow the Tessian Mechanarchy are woefully misunderstood by the bulk of mainstream accounts. They point to the so-called inborn tendency towards violence, as if this were anything more than blatant antiforomianism, and act as though this explains the so-called Mechanoclastic Revolt. Clearly, the answer lies more in the cruel sanctions the Tessians imposed to those accused of falling under the sway of the more Wyld-tainted aspects of the Elemental Tides. In particular, the period of persecution of the Solar Races by the Mechanarchy following the destruction of Gem was bound to produce such a result.

True, the Anklok partisans did not entirely limit their strikes to Tessian targets. But that was only in response to the purges and reprisals implemented by the Mechanarchy in an effort to quell them before the sentiment spread to the other races of Solarines. Given their extraordinary efforts to present the situation as the Anklok majority standing alone among the Southern enclaves, it was nearly inevitable that the draconians took the stance that all the surrounding shires were hostile towards them. I don't wish to engage in apologism for the crystal-bombings of Shiran targets, but still, one must understand the situation they occurred in.
This term refers either to a star-shaped symbol used in certain barbarian scripts, or the most vicious of eels. It was created by Kimberry, so my informants say, as a means of controlling the gigantic sharks and other creatures (such as the famed K'thang) that swam within her.

During the early stages of the Primordial War, such beasts would often escape the expanse of their Creator-Sea and maraud along the coastlines of the more remote parts of Creation. 'The Ballad of Perphyron Deran' obviously contains a folk memory of an attack by such a creature, which it describes (unhelpfully) as being somewhere between a house and a mountain in size, with teeth the length of the Direlances wielded by warmachines, but little else of interest, although the acidic miasma that it exudes might well have applications in the field of military science.

The most reliable of my captives, Specimin-3A111, informs me that amoungst his benighted subterrainian kind, there are legends of a beast that haunts certain remote subterrainian lakes -- growing so large, they say, that the water level of each is increased by several miles due to the size of the beast. Alas, I have been so far unsuccessful in persuading any of my patrons of the obvious benefits of capturing such a magnificent specimin, and attempts to persuade the more excitable of my colleages to do so out of intellectual curiosty have, shall we say, proven unsuccessful.
Easily the most impressive of the artifacts left behind by the victors of the Battle of Ten Thousand Warriors and Four Poets, and yet sadly ignored in this age of decayed scholarship, the Alabaster Stars were an artificial night sky created to fool the Primordial Gharos, the Crocodile Who Smiles as He Devours and lull his behemoth warguard, Jun-Fra, the Mile-Locust to sleep so that the hero Xarbrusta could slay him.

The reason the stars are forgotten dates to the rise of the Brantyst School and its foolish claim that the vast majority of the weapons and methods devised by the heroes involved were simply metaphors for the heroes' spiritual enlightenment. Six ages prior to the Incarnae's ascension to the Celestial City, the Primordials banished the Fair Ones forever from the borders of Creation. The period before that was the Age of Dreams, which was so warped by the pools of Chaos the Fair Ones carried with them that it erased all evidence of prior ages. While records remain, neither charm nor sorcery can verify their accuracy.
What we do know for sure is that before the Fair Folk were banished, they had managed to create *Mahakanpala. This, along with an attempt by Jaded Princess to shape Vitaris into a Cup Grace, is often cited as the reason for their banishment. However, new evidence has been brought to light in excavation of *Zelphi the Steel-Haired’s Library-Fortress that suggests the real reason is the fair folk’s invention of the spear. Apparently, the Primordials felt that this invention held the potential to allow the Fair Ones to circumvent a particularly stringent oath against fighting demons with any weapon invented by the Primordials in the past or future. Of course, since the Primordials were reborn into the Yozi, the Fair Ones have been free of this oath entirely, but most scholars seem to overlook this point when looking back to the Age of Dreams.
When he was fifteen summers old, the Foulings*, dark spirits that still haunt our racial memories to this day, were loosed on his village. The Dragon Kings, who cared little for the tiny village of Seven Shallow Rivers, refused to help against them, and the task was left for the strongest warrior. The battle between Anwar and the Foulings was fantastic, but little hard fact can be ascertained. Suffice to say it was his actions that day that lead to his recruitment into the Great War of Balance, of which he served faithfully until the day he died in battle. In a time when mortals were often considered little better then laborers to greater beings, he was a greater being himself, a hero, and remains one for mortals everywhere.
