[http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?760777-ICONS-Assembled-Overpowers OOC Thread]

==Setting Background==
They may or may not have always been here, but one thing is for sure. They keep coming back.

Ancients from as far back as records go report sightings of ariel objects that spark an age of mythic Heroes. From Thutmose II to Alexander the Great, those more than human emerge and are involved with the discs.

More than human became Superhuman for the first time after the American Civil War. The usual masked Heroes were present on both sides, of course, and cowboy culture was full of them.

But it was not until one of the discs crashed in Aurora, Texas that the first of the Supers arrived. The water from the contaminated well spread out, forever changing some individuals. One of the earliest, known only as Big John, held up a collapsing, unsafe mine. He sacrificed his own life in the process, serving as a rallying symbol for the formation of the United Mine Workers.

The First World War saw some Supers on the lines. The sight of men dodging bullets or leaping across trenches was always both terrifying and inspiring.

Perhaps attracted by the Supers, the discs returned. Pilots called them Foo Fighters. Anyone who got too close tended to develop abilities of their own. Kenneth Arnold became the first Power, able to be able to fly unaided. He never wore a mask, and used his powers with the forestry and rescue services.

Then one of them crashed in Roswell, New Mexico. After that, it was never quite the same. For the first time, Powers began appearing at random. Scientists theorize the increased radiation in the atmosphere coupled with whatever the crashed Disc released upped the ante.

Powered gangs took to themed costumes to terrorize those who might have Powers of their own. Heroes and heroic Powers responded with their own costumes, meant to oppose and inspire. They hid their identities from the McCarthy Witch hunts.

The Discs seemed to get proactive. Betty & Barney Hill and Travis Walton were taken and returned. The Hills gained largely mental abilities, which they used to assist law enforcement in a consulting capacity. Unfortunately, Barney's powers overwhelmed him, causing a cerebral hemorrhage. Ten years later, Walton became Fireman, titling his autobiography "Fire In The Sky".

Fireman became involved in responding to the Rendlesham Forest disc, which jumpstarted several military super units and lead to the formation of the international Super-Human Overwatch Committee. To this day, Disc activity and superhumans alike routinely involve Agents of SHOC.

SHOC responded to the most public incident to date, the Phoenix Lights. A SHOC Team went over the mountains after the Discs. They were engaged a villain of a power level no one had seen before. Immediately, several citizens instinctively aided them, leading to the formation of the first Overpower superteam.

Sightings increased. Mexico began a never-ending flap. Honalulu, Stephenville, Morrison, Houston.

Disc activity is becoming routine. Overpowers are emerging almost weekly.

==Bio==
Super Name: The Herald
Secret Identity: Selena White
Age: 27
In-Costume Looks: Ancient Egyptian, with brown eyes, tanned skin, brown hair up in gold Eye of Ra barrette, white flowing dress, gold lotus sash, silver eyes of Heru earrings, Collar of the Iryetra, gold ankh bindi, Egyptian style kohl, sistrum, gold sandals, silver cat armlet.

Out of Costume Looks: 5'7", 180 lbs, Caucasian, brown eyes, brown hair worn down, light skin, white blouse, blue capris (or black slacks), Collar of the Iryetra (lazuli eye), silver ankh necklace, silver scarab bangle, navy blue mary janes.

Personality: Usually quiet and bookish when out of Heroic form, she tends to be kind and wistful outside of the classroom. As a teacher, she is gentle but firm in her lessons. In her heroic form, her sense of justice intensifies, as does her reverence for Bast and the Netjeru. Her sense of irony and sarcasm remain in both forms, as does the look in her eyes of a woman that's seen beyond the stars.

History: Born and raised in Kansas City, Selena gained degrees in archaeology and Egyptology before being hired as a teacher and consultant of the local university (and their representative on digs). She found the Collar of the Iryetra in a temple of the fringes of the Ancient Egyptian empire while on a dig. She placed it on, and a vision came to her. It was the most powerful she'd had since she was a child, and Bast directly told her about her being one of her champions and her spiritual daughter. Selena accepted Bast's task for her and became the Herald for the first time.

It was her work investigating a necromantic cult where she met Ibet for the first time. A cat that could talk was strange to her. Stranger still was her ability to disappear for hours at a time, only to reappear at just the right time to give a piece of advice (or distract the occasional guard) that lead Herald to keep her as a familiar and pet. Ibet's pastime of where she goes when she disappears is still a mystery to Herald. For now, she just hopes the black mau trots home in time for supper.

Herald's investigation into an artefact theft ring brought her into contact with Rai Kinsuke, a shapeshifting nekojin from a slightly altered future where after escaping some tragic fate in a different world, the inujin and nekojin did what dogs and cats are stereotypically known to do; fight. Except in their case, it was more espionage than open feuding. Together with Rai, Herald tracked down the Mirror of Nebthet, a magical (and semi-sentient) artefact that allowed the user to jump universes. They went on many adventures together to find the missing pieces of the WosYienpu, a powerful artefact that, in the wrong hands, could wipe out an entire species. Along the way, they met many other heroes and worldshapers both willing and unwilling to aid them. Once the crisis averted, Rai saw fit to jump in and out of Herald's life whenever she was in the area or wanted to visit.

Herald has taken to being a cleanser of undead since settling back in her home world, taking interfaith missions and some police assignments alike.

Recent Accomplishments: Having been teleported to Phoenix, AZ after finishing a job cleansing a church's graveyard, she wound up with the Phoenix Lights as they bid for escape from the confines of a warehouse. While she tried to help with the battle with Commandeer, ultimately it was the rest of the Lights that saved the world. While not officially a member of the Lights as of yet, she sees the good that they can do and will do what she can to help them out.

[http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?760777-ICONS-Assembled-Overpowers OOC Thread]

==Setting Background==

[http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?760777-ICONS-Assembled-Overpowers OOC Thread]

==Setting Background==
