Once More, With Feeling
Log 1.3
(12/09/09 15:03:03) Cowboy Energy: "Did you just volounteer?" Crow asked Ziyad, with a crooked smile.
(12/09/09 15:03:50) Dakkareth: Nuwa doesn't think of herself as a warrior either, but doesn't correct Crow.
(12/09/09 15:04:30) Cowboy Energy: (You know what I mean.)
(12/09/09 15:05:02) Lost Arts: "If I must and no other candidate presents themselves. Though should be entirely possible to teach the people to operate the machines."
(12/09/09 15:05:13) Dakkareth: (of course, but apply one word to many people and everyone will find some way to distinguish him or herself from everyone else ;) )
(12/09/09 15:05:23) Cowboy Energy: (touche, honky : P)
(12/09/09 15:05:30) Cowboy Energy: (Wait, forget that last part)
(12/09/09 15:05:39) Lost Arts: (Please don't let me accidentally write myself out)
(12/09/09 15:05:43) ***Andrensath raises an eyebrow.
(12/09/09 15:05:44) Cowboy Energy: (was briefly channelling Dave Chappelle's standout)
(12/09/09 15:05:56) Cowboy Energy: (STANDUP! See? I'm out of it!)
(12/09/09 15:06:29) Cowboy Energy: @_@
(12/09/09 15:06:56) Cowboy Energy: "The problem is that some machines require an expenditure of essence just to operate them. Like this map."
(12/09/09 15:07:29) Andrensath: "So we Awaken their Essence. That's not very hard to do, you know." Antonee says.
(12/09/09 15:08:03) Cowboy Energy: "Hell if I know." Crow shrugs. "I mostly worked with Corvid, instead of dragging an entire entourage with me."
(12/09/09 15:08:06) Lost Arts: "It will also take time just to identify those machines. As it is the city will be sparsely populated but well defended."
(12/09/09 15:09:05) Cowboy Energy: "Fair enough. Once again, we can burn that bridge when we get to it. The important thing is that we manage to stop the Mask afterwards."
(12/09/09 15:09:12) Lost Arts: "And there is a good chance we can find a device or manse which summons us back to deal with any real crisis."
(12/09/09 15:09:22) Andrensath: "Agreed."
(12/09/09 15:12:01) Cowboy Energy: (yay, we agreed on something : D )
(12/09/09 15:12:08) Lost Arts: (Yep
(12/09/09 15:12:22) Lost Arts: Ziyad nods in agreement
(12/09/09 15:12:48) Andrensath: (Ziyad's agreeing with Solitary's agreeing with him?)
(12/09/09 15:13:04) Dakkareth: (so, do we have more to talk about?)
(12/09/09 15:13:19) Lost Arts: (Oh sorry thought you were agreeing with Crow)
(12/09/09 15:13:19) Cowboy Energy: (I can't think of anything)
(12/09/09 15:13:42) Cowboy Energy: (Wiat, Ziyad is agreeing with Crow?)
(12/09/09 15:13:50) Andrensath: (While I'm thinking about it, do we want to place the discussion of Denandsor stuff close to us being there IC?)
(12/09/09 15:13:58) Cowboy Energy: Sure.
(12/09/09 15:14:07) Andrensath: (I'm confused too now.)
(12/09/09 15:14:09) Dakkareth: (split the scene into two?)
(12/09/09 15:14:10) Lost Arts: (Why not)
(12/09/09 15:14:21) Lost Arts: (ignore my agreement)
(12/09/09 15:14:44) Dakkareth: (possible, I guess)
(12/09/09 15:14:49) Lost Arts: (I was agreeing with the need to stop the mask)
(12/09/09 15:15:36) Cowboy Energy: (Yeah, that does make sense)
(12/09/09 15:15:37) Andrensath: (Cause, well, it's rather pointless for them to discuss what they'll be doing at Densandor when it's still almost two months away.)
(12/09/09 15:15:59) Cowboy Energy: (Hey, I said we should include that there. Yeah, split it into two.)
(12/09/09 15:16:05) Lost Arts: (I assume the thing with Anshu and thus this was mid journey
(12/09/09 15:16:15) Lost Arts: (Shall we assume 3/4 in or so)
(12/09/09 15:16:29) Taurus II: ((I said in the post it was on the evening of the 3rd day))
(12/09/09 15:16:40) Andrensath: (What Taurus said)
(12/09/09 15:16:40) Dakkareth: By Taurus' post day 3, but unless there's a reason it shouldn't be a later date ...
(12/09/09 15:16:55) Lost Arts: (Yeah are you willing to change that Taurus?)
(12/09/09 15:17:27) Cowboy Energy: (I mean the map stuff should be when we're close to Denandsor. The tattoo stuff, the following evening, morning, whatever. How's that sound?)
(12/09/09 15:17:43) Lost Arts: (I think I missed the tattoo stuff)
(12/09/09 15:18:03) Cowboy Energy: (Oh yeah, we pretty much said "this sucks. Yup. Oblivion and Neverborn are bad. Yup.)
(12/09/09 15:18:07) Dakkareth: (I can post the log tomorrow)
(12/09/09 15:18:11) Andrensath: (Yeah, it was while you were fighting with AIM.)
(12/09/09 15:18:21) Lost Arts: (Stupid AIM)
(12/09/09 15:18:23) Taurus II: ((we can move it to later in the journey. Sunrunner, how long do the trials and tattooing process take?))
(12/09/09 15:18:25) Cowboy Energy: (I mean, are we even going to do anything based off of that conversation anyway?)
(12/09/09 15:18:41) Cowboy Energy: (Maybe watch Anshu more closely?)
(12/09/09 15:18:46) Sunrunner: ((A few months. Or really really fast if you already have a reputation.
(12/09/09 15:19:36) Andrensath: (Or, well, you don't actually *need* the tattoos anymore. As evidenced by the First Age Casted Lunars walking around)
(12/09/09 15:19:39) Dakkareth: (we'll probably have to talk about Neverborn and stuff again at some point, so this is a basis we can build on)
(12/09/09 15:20:10) Taurus II: ((So it couldn't be done during the march to Denandsor?))
(12/09/09 15:20:10) Cowboy Energy: (Yeah, but should we watch Anshu, maybe talk about it with him later?)
(12/09/09 15:20:10) Lost Arts: (BTW is there a knack for First Age Castes or what?)
(12/09/09 15:20:24) Cowboy Energy: (You could do the tattooing without the trials, I think. It won't be official though)
(12/09/09 15:20:29) Sunrunner: ((He does because he is a Castless, which means he has the tampered-with wyld-tainted Exaltation.
(12/09/09 15:20:36) Sunrunner: ((No, there isn't.
(12/09/09 15:20:42) Andrensath: (Oh. Bugger.)
(12/09/09 15:20:45) Lost Arts: (OK)
(12/09/09 15:21:02) Andrensath: (I thought they were all fixed.)
(12/09/09 15:21:16) Dakkareth: (definitely talk about it at some point. see if he has found out something, make sure he doesn't do any more dangerous experiments ;) )
(12/09/09 15:21:18) Cowboy Energy: (The tattooing alone will block off the wyld-taint. Or at least any further wyld-taint. But the trials are what give them their backing in the Silver Pact.)
(12/09/09 15:21:26) Cowboy Energy: (oh for sure)
(12/09/09 15:21:42) Sunrunner: ((You can do the tattoos with the charm, official or not, but the charm giving the tattoos requires you to participate. Part of that participation is a ritual recital of your achievements.
(12/09/09 15:21:58) Lost Arts: (Hey if Jarred's mate still exists she could of Tattooed your new lunar with a reclaimed caste)
(12/09/09 15:21:58) Sunrunner: ((And, no, not all of the lunar exaltations have been fixed.
(12/09/09 15:22:14) Cowboy Energy: (Surely that doesn't take months though)
(12/09/09 15:22:14) Andrensath: (Actually, I should point out that Splendor's got backing (Silver Pact 6) and is no longer tattooed.)
(12/09/09 15:22:17) Sunrunner: ((She faded though, when the player faded.
(12/09/09 15:22:35) Cowboy Energy: Well the Silver Pact was around during the First Age, just not quite the same as it is now.
(12/09/09 15:22:36) Lost Arts: (Was just a suggestion)
(12/09/09 15:23:37) Taurus II: Cowboy, I believe the "months" part is racking up the exploits to recite in the first place
(12/09/09 15:23:40) Sunrunner: ((It takes months if you don't already have a set of achievements. If you don't, then the trials give you a set of achievements the charm requires. If you already have those achievements, then it just takes someone with the charm to tattoo you and for you to participate.
(12/09/09 15:24:24) Andrensath: (Yeah, but Splendor needed the tattoos to survive till now. Now he's become a Changing Moon Society member, he's lost the tattoos, and somehow reverted to his First Age Caste.)
(12/09/09 15:24:47) Lost Arts: (Ah the its a mystery answer)
(12/09/09 15:25:01) Taurus II: And Dhiren is a new Lunar, so he doesn't have enough achievements to list properly
(12/09/09 15:25:17) Andrensath: (Well, not quite. It's a mystery to him, but not to me OOCly.)
(12/09/09 15:25:33) Sunrunner: Ziyad: I have the answer. It isn't an IC answer though. ^^
(12/09/09 15:25:52) Dakkareth: Do they seriously say 'Nope, sorry, you'll have to keep risking mutation and chimera.dom because you haven't done enough awesome stuff yet? O_o
(12/09/09 15:26:11) Dakkareth: I'd have thought it would be exactly the other way around.
(12/09/09 15:26:11) Andrensath: Yes. Elder Exalts are dicks like that.
(12/09/09 15:26:20) Sunrunner: Yes. The Silver Pact is made up of alien god-beasts from a prior age. They are assholes like that.
(12/09/09 15:26:54) Lost Arts: (I wasn't saying I had any problem with it)
(12/09/09 15:27:36) Taurus II: On the other hand
(12/09/09 15:27:40) Sunrunner: If you, as a Lunar, cannot survive (emphasis: survive) without the tattoos long enough to make a name for yourself ... then you don't deserve the tattoos, they'll kill the chimera you've become, and hope your next incarnation is better suited for it.
(12/09/09 15:27:51) Taurus II: okay
(12/09/09 15:27:58) Lost Arts: Sounds Lunar like to me
(12/09/09 15:28:10) Dakkareth: It just seems entirely against the purpose of the tattoos. If you want to protect someone from the Wyld, why wait? And if they'll wait anyway, why do they go to such length to retrieve young Lunars?
(12/09/09 15:28:38) Lost Arts: I would have thought that most of the game thus far could be used as Achievements for Dhiren
(12/09/09 15:28:38) Andrensath: Cause Elder Exalts are dicks?
(12/09/09 15:28:59) Sunrunner: Because if they get the young lunars, they can force them through the trials while making sure that they die if they go chimera, so that they can tattoo you.
(12/09/09 15:29:06) Andrensath: And I'll second Lost_Art's last comment.
(12/09/09 15:29:19) Dakkareth: Heh. They need a good beating then :p
(12/09/09 15:29:29) Cowboy Energy: I think we can pencil that in.
(12/09/09 15:29:31) Dakkareth: And yeah, there should be some achievments in that.
(12/09/09 15:29:36) Lost Arts: And for Cael too except I expect Segev to avoid Tattooing like the plague
(12/09/09 15:29:37) Sunrunner: It may be less that they are dicks (which they are) and more that the magic needs the achievements to anchor itself to the lunar's fate/destiny.
(12/09/09 15:30:01) Cowboy Energy: Well why didn't you tell us that BEFORE the "they're dicks" explanation.
(12/09/09 15:30:17) Sunrunner: Because In My Campaign, its' because they are dicks.
(12/09/09 15:30:21) Lost Arts: Isn't it also a way to sort out which Caste they fall in with
(12/09/09 15:30:31) Andrensath: Yeah, it is.
(12/09/09 15:30:38) Sunrunner: But that is what they tell other people: that the magic needs this and this so that it will work.
(12/09/09 15:30:43) Cowboy Energy: Yeah, I guess the trials generate accomplishments
(12/09/09 15:31:13) ***Sunrunner nods. That it does.
(12/09/09 15:31:46) Cowboy Energy: Anyway, I've got to sleep
(12/09/09 15:31:52) Lost Arts: me\ needs sleep too
(12/09/09 15:31:53) Cowboy Energy: Do we get any XP from this, by any chance?
(12/09/09 15:31:59) Lost Arts: Curses didn't work
(12/09/09 15:32:02) Dakkareth: Yeah, really should sleep.
(12/09/09 15:32:16) Cowboy Energy: Then you're not cursing hard enough!
(12/09/09 15:32:18) Sunrunner: *docks Cowboy's XP for the next 100 years* No XP for you. =p
(12/09/09 15:32:28) Lost Arts: Sleep would be a good idea.
(12/09/09 15:32:28) Taurus II: roleplaying RP only happens if you get nominated for it by another player
(12/09/09 15:32:31) Andrensath: / before, not \ after, Lost Arts
(12/09/09 15:32:35) Taurus II: like 3-die stunts
(12/09/09 15:32:37) Cowboy Energy: I nominate everyone except me
(12/09/09 15:32:43) Cowboy Energy: *trollface*
(12/09/09 15:32:50) ***Lost Arts jumps up and down. Like this
(12/09/09 15:32:54) Lost Arts: Cool
(12/09/09 15:33:12) Lost Arts: Been a long time since I used this software
(12/09/09 15:33:20) Cowboy Energy: Anyway, it was fun.
(12/09/09 15:33:31) Cowboy Energy: Next time maybe we can fight some skeletons : D
(12/09/09 15:33:32) Lost Arts: T'was.
(12/09/09 15:33:39) Lost Arts: Night
(12/09/09 15:33:42) Dakkareth: *waves* good night, good morning, whatever
(12/09/09 15:33:42) Cowboy Energy: Night everybody
(12/09/09 15:33:44) Sunrunner: Trillian is a lovely program, though Yahoo is being obnoxious about versions.
(12/09/09 15:33:50) Sunrunner: Sleep well, those who must.
(12/09/09 15:33:52) Lost Arts left the room.
(12/09/09 15:33:52) Dakkareth left the room.
(12/09/09 15:33:55) Cowboy Energy left the room.
(12/09/09 15:34:03) Andrensath: Yahoo is obnoxious in general.
(12/09/09 15:34:11) Myllinnia: Ya I no likie Yahoo
(12/09/09 15:34:52) Sunrunner: Tattoo-wise, we have two NPCs on the way who can something about that. And neither of them are dicks. Only one has one.
(12/09/09 15:35:17) Andrensath: We do? Cinnabar and who else?
(12/09/09 15:35:19) Taurus II: and, if we decide to push Salamander's death further into the journey, we might not even need to wait for them to arrive.
(12/09/09 15:35:26) Taurus II: Just saying.
(12/09/09 15:35:27) Sunrunner: Cinnibar and Cerise.
(12/09/09 15:35:36) Andrensath: Oh, right.
(12/09/09 15:35:45) ***Andrensath forgot about Cerise.
(12/09/09 15:36:07) ***Sunrunner grins, as he doesn't think he has told Andrensath anything about Cerise.
(12/09/09 15:36:44) Andrensath: No, but she's mentioned by name in the OOC thread. And I know that she apparently has no male forms.
(12/09/09 15:37:11) Sunrunner: By implication on the latter, though it is true.
(12/09/09 15:39:42) Andrensath: So after this we're skipping to Denandsor, right?
(12/09/09 15:40:34) Sunrunner: I will be posting the "and then we arrive" before I go to sleep. So, yes.
(12/09/09 15:40:53) Andrensath: Ok.
(12/09/09 15:41:28) Taurus II: is somebody going to post the log?
(12/09/09 15:41:34) Andrensath: I need to decide if I want any time consuming purchases for Solitary and/or Antonee.
(12/09/09 15:41:36) Andrensath: I will.
(12/09/09 15:41:51) Taurus II: ok
(12/09/09 15:41:56) Andrensath: *All of it, unless anyone objects.
(12/09/09 15:42:28) Taurus II: no objection
(12/09/09 15:42:50) Sunrunner: No objection from me.
(12/09/09 15:42:53) Myllinnia: No objections.
(12/09/09 15:43:16) Andrensath: Well, that's a majority right there.
(12/09/09 15:43:35) Taurus II: okay
(12/09/09 15:43:38) Taurus II: I will call it a night
(12/09/09 15:43:44) Taurus II left the room.
(12/09/09 15:44:41) Andrensath: So how finished is Cerise, Sunrunner?
(12/09/09 15:45:17) Andrensath: Also, do either of you have a good suggestion on how to differentiate Splendor's speech?
(12/09/09 15:45:34) Myllinnia: Hmmm
(12/09/09 15:45:59) Sunrunner: I've done the splash portion (where I throw ideas and stuff at the paper till it sticks and I don't mark it out). I'm getting her charms now. I know what I want her backgrounds to be .. .its' basically just getting her written down and then formatted. Should be up tonight.
(12/09/09 15:46:30) Sunrunner: Go with silver, and a font change.
(12/09/09 15:46:41) Sunrunner: Like Li is fixed sys font.
(12/09/09 15:46:54) Sunrunner: And Sakura is Verdana.
(12/09/09 15:47:01) Andrensath: You sure? People said the silver was hard to read when I was using it for Solitary.
(12/09/09 15:47:13) Myllinnia: Ya silver is hard
(12/09/09 15:47:17) Sunrunner: Maybe bolding it, to darken the text?
(12/09/09 15:47:45) Andrensath: (trying bolded silver) Is this readble to yhou?
(12/09/09 15:48:03) Sunrunner: No, it isn't. Hmm.
(12/09/09 15:48:16) Andrensath: Okay, I can't read that. I'll check on RPGnet's forum, though.
(12/09/09 15:48:38) Myllinnia: silver definitely doesn't work bold, underlined, ect. :p
(12/09/09 15:48:48) Sunrunner: Heh.
(12/09/09 15:49:17) Sunrunner: Go for a dark grey? Or ... hmm. What is the corresponding Solar Caste to Splendor's Lunar Caste?
(12/09/09 15:49:36) Myllinnia: Testing DimGray Which works better than silver
(12/09/09 15:49:44) Andrensath: Sevda's a Dawn.
(12/09/09 15:50:09) Sunrunner: Go with Saffron as the color then. =p Its' the dawn color. =p
(12/09/09 15:50:23) Sunrunner: Well, saffron and lavender.
(12/09/09 15:50:38) Myllinnia: Darkslategrey is even better to read ^^
(12/09/09 15:50:45) ***Segev looks in.
(12/09/09 15:50:57) Andrensath: Welcome back, Segev!
(12/09/09 15:51:03) Sunrunner: Hello, Segev. Welcome back.
(12/09/09 15:51:07) Segev: I'm here briefly, anyway.
(12/09/09 15:51:13) Segev: How'd the session go?
(12/09/09 15:51:18) Segev: Any interesting conclusions drawn?
(12/09/09 15:51:23) Andrensath: Good.
(12/09/09 15:51:44) Sunrunner: Cowboy got mad at me because I was having Corvid be obnoxious.
(12/09/09 15:52:07) Andrensath: Hm. RPGnet doesn't recognise saffron. Got a hexcode for it, Sunrunner?
(12/09/09 15:52:13) Sunrunner: Other than that, we found out that the map thingy has a security system and that Nuwa has the best access out of the bunch of us.
(12/09/09 15:52:49) Segev: Okay.
(12/09/09 15:52:51) Segev: Off again.
(12/09/09 15:53:13) Sunrunner: Saffron (#F4C430)
(12/09/09 15:54:21) Sunrunner: Its' an organish yellow according ot my screen.
(12/09/09 15:54:21) Sunrunner: #FF9933 ... would be the deep version.
(12/09/09 15:54:21) Andrensath: That looks good. Cheers.
(12/09/09 15:54:23) Sunrunner: Cool.
(12/09/09 15:56:16) Andrensath: Hm. I will probably go with deep saffron and unbolded for Splendor, because that makes emphasis easier to detect.
(12/09/09 15:56:37) Sunrunner: Sounds like a plan to me.
(12/09/09 16:01:07) Andrensath: Ok. Anyone have other stuff we should talk about, or is it safe to start formatting the log for posting?
(12/09/09 16:01:29) Sunrunner: Should be safe. Unless someone has questions?
(12/09/09 16:02:05) Andrensath: Myll?
(12/09/09 16:05:08) Myllinnia: none
(12/09/09 16:05:17) Myllinnia: Sorry ^^
(12/09/09 16:05:26) Andrensath: Okay, cool.
(12/09/09 16:07:57) Sunrunner: I am declaring the campaign theme song: Elton John - Someday Out of the Blue. If only for how many bondmates pull that exact trick.
(12/09/09 16:08:19) ***Sunrunner is mostly joking. (Mostly.)
(12/09/09 16:08:59) Myllinnia: lol
(12/09/09 16:09:09) ***Andrensath blinks
(12/09/09 16:09:13) Sunrunner: It works though. It really does.
(12/09/09 16:11:42) Sunrunner: Hmm. If it wasn't for her spells, Cerise would only be an Ally 2. But those spells push her over the edge into Ally 3.
(12/09/09 16:11:57) ***Sunrunner is babbling.
(12/09/09 16:12:04) Myllinnia: hehe
(12/09/09 16:12:46) Andrensath: S'cool. You do know your babbling's getting posted in the log, though, right?:-D
(12/09/09 16:14:54) Sunrunner: hehe
(12/09/09 16:17:56) Sunrunner: Oh. Give Splender another Ward (Cerise Rose's Thorn). She is a Sun King Sensenchal as well.
(12/09/09 16:18:22) Andrensath: Does he get any XP for having her?
(12/09/09 16:18:36) ***Andrensath wants as little XP debt as possible.
(12/09/09 16:18:52) Sunrunner: Its' a flaw, so you get the XP or BP value from it, yes.
(12/09/09 16:19:15) Andrensath: On top of the 10 points of Flaws he already has, though?
(12/09/09 16:20:38) Myllinnia: Someone else has like 15 pts of flaws
(12/09/09 16:20:44) Sunrunner: Its' fine with me.
(12/09/09 16:20:54) Andrensath: Okay. Just making sure.
(12/09/09 16:29:37) Andrensath: Hm. What level of Ward should Cerise be worth?
(12/09/09 16:31:16) Sunrunner: 8? She is almost always going to be in trouble of one kind or another. (Because she hangs out with the PCs.) But the flaw doesn't go that high.
(12/09/09 16:31:39) Sunrunner: Depends on how often you want her to call on Splendor for help.
(12/09/09 16:31:41) Segev: At least Cael isn't a high-point Ward. ;)
(12/09/09 16:31:51) Andrensath: So five for both her and Li, then?
(12/09/09 16:31:52) Segev: He'd be trouble on a stick for whoever was trying to keep him safe.
(12/09/09 16:31:57) Sunrunner: I have Splendor marked down as a Mentor 2.
(12/09/09 16:32:15) Sunrunner: Sure, that sounds about right.
(12/09/09 16:32:20) Andrensath: That's cause Cael's not a PC. Ward only applies to NPCs.
(12/09/09 16:32:40) Sunrunner: Cael isn't a PC?
(12/09/09 16:32:40) ***Sunrunner looks at Andrensath carefully.
(12/09/09 16:32:44) Segev: I think he meant because Cael IS a PC.
(12/09/09 16:32:57) Segev: (Either that, or I'm secretly Sunrunner. >_> <_<)
(12/09/09 16:33:02) Sunrunner: hehe
(12/09/09 16:33:08) Andrensath: Gah. Have been up way too long.
(12/09/09 16:33:27) Sunrunner: It's ok. We forgive you. ^^
(12/09/09 16:33:38) ***Sunrunner is being exceptionally silly as well as babbling.
