Investigating reports of a sea monster linked to the disappearance of several fishing boats, Alani stumbles across the lair of a gang of fugitive jewel thieves lead by the sinister Doctor Phasmagore, a mad scientist (played, against type, by Academy Award winner Wallace Beery) who has been controlling the beast using a Hypno-ray.
