	This decision proved wise, as shortly after Alodia reached her full growth and recieved the blessed implants of the Machine Cult, the Explorator fleet had once again gained intelligence regarding a potential STC cache, and had diverted to investigate further. Unfortunately, this did not go quite so well as the last--a band of troublesome Hereteks had managed to beat the flotilla to the location--and a lucky swell of the Warp's currents had allowed them to learn of the approach of the oncoming group, allowing them to lay a trap for the investigators. Sabotaging the world's remaining Archaeotech defenses to fire on the emerging vessels, and striking a blow against the hated Mechanicus. Having not heard of these defenses, the fleet was not prepared for battle, and sustained critical damage--the fleet's flagship taking the brunt of the barrage before the defense platform finally exploded from the strain. Alodia was working on one of the rear ships at the time, and was left in the unenviable position of being one of the few fully trained Adeptus remaining. == Background ==
Alodia Delos is proud of her origins--at least insofar as pride is permitted amongst the Mechanicus and their demesnes. An experiment in gene-engineering by the Magos-Genetor Omicron Sette, following the recent unearthing of an ancient cache of STC data in the ruins of Levitas Secundus, she serves as a continual reminder that the lost arts of the Dark Age of Technology remain in the grasp of wise and determined Explorators, and of the treasures that can be unearthed with the proper rituals and opportunities. Raised in the care of the flotilla her maker was attached to, Alodia was initiated into the secrets of the Priesthood of Mars from the earliest of days, learning mathematics and logic at an age where other children may be permitted to play with toys, with her joy coming from new opportunities to work with the great Machine Spirits of the fleet. A precocious child, her advanced genes made her especially capable of comprehending useful data before many others, and her creator had wisely determined that--putting aside the successful proof of concept--that she may also serve as a fine addition to the Priesthood.
