'''Background:''' Rose, as she prefers to be called, grew up in the lap of luxury as the Heir Apparent of the Whelan Business Group. She left the family (on decent terms), choosing the life of an actress/model instead, and has forged a career for herself without family money (though she's well aware that the name may have helped).

She gained her powers at puberty, but never really did anything with them until she turned 19. Partly, that was to protect her family, partly it was because she didn't really know what she wanted to do. At 19, she intervened in a bank robbery while still in costume from a convention she was attending, and Amarantine was born.

Her natural hair color is white, and she has bright blue eyes. As Amarantine, she wears a dark wig, and a silver and white costume.

Her family knows who she is, as does one of her exes - Tala Tiberian is an extra-dimensional visitor from the world of Nyonia, where the Roman Empire never fell. Tala is a Praetorian guard for the current Empress, sent to evaluate the world for possible inclusion into the Empire. She eventually had to go back, but may return.
