	“Where did you hear that one?” I said as I pulled into the lot. “I don’t know it.” No ~~mean~~ feat, that. I rarely listened to the vocal crap on the Cortex. I preferred instrumentals, preferably with bass and a driving melodic line, but every once in a while, something with lyrics would tug at me. Like this song they sang now. “It’s lovely,” I added, saying nothing but the truth.<br><br>		“Where did you hear that one?” I said as I pulled into the lot. “I don’t know it.” No great feat, that. 	Beglan had wandered off to grab breakfast and a coffee and I lingered over the engine room boards double checking everything. By working flat out for the past two days, he and I had whipped through our monthly maintenance. Considering the amount left undone due to injury and capture by hostile forces, to say nothing of our hard-partying passengers, the past 48 hours had to be some sort of record for a ship this size. I scanned the boards. Everything showed green. I closed my eyes and listened to our girl humming to herself. 	Aware I’d missed waking with Joshua this morning in my zeal to get a couple of hours in before breakfast, I pushed off the console and made my way forward. I cut through the machine shop and put my tools away, then used the tiny sink in the corner to clean off my hands.
