			(Open scene) Wrecker folds up Pops seaman’s jacket and put it in his trunk. He had been insistent that it be packed for this trip to the hospital; he wanted to be buried in it. Walters’s thoughts drifted back to the last time he packed this trunk.

			(Open scene) A tall black man/boy with a vestigial tusk and several splotches of dark army green “breaking” out over his body.

			Walter folded a pair of pants and placed them into the trunk. He wasn’t sure why he bothered. Nothing fit any longer.

			Father: “You about done packing that trunk son, you’re going to miss your train.” His father said as he walked into the room.

			Walter: “Dad, I don’t understand why I have to go. I never even met Uncle Willie, never even heard of him till a month ago when I started changing like this.”

			Father: “I told you son it’s not safe in the South for you, this is for your own protection. The clan might be gone but Humanis is bigger and nastier than they ever were. You can’t stop bigotry. ‘Sides if they come after you then they will come after all of us and you don’t want to see anything happen to your mom or your older brother Trevor. He still has a future. I have had to pull every favor I have to keep this quiet. You have been sick for the last month and you’re going to Seattle to be with family because the Dr’s say the sea air will do you good.”

			Suddenly it all came crystal clear to Walter bigotry was alive and well and standing in front of him in his father. He looked at this father and realized how scared he was of his 13 year old son standing eye to eye with him.

			Walter picks up his chest, “That’s all there is nothing else fits. Maybe Trevor will grow into it some day.”

			Father: “Don’t you wish this on your brother. It was always weird how you got so much bigger with him 2 years older and all, now we know why. Take that chest and here put on my hat and trench coat. I don’t want the neighbors seeing you walk out like this. I will be waiting downstairs in the car!”

			Trevor walks into the room, “He’s just scared for you, Wally.”

			Walter: “Scared of me more like.”

			Trevor: “Maybe a bit of that too. He just doesn’t know how to handle it.”

			Walter smiles and sticks out his hand. His appearance is a bit intimidating with his tusk jutting out, “Take it easy big brother I won’t be around to protect you anymore.”

			Trevor smiles back and hugs him. “Take care bigger brother; I won’t be around to do your homework for you anymore. I will look for you in the café’s.”

			Walter walks downstairs and his mom looks at him through tear strained eyes, “Be safe Walter I made you your favorite chicken for the trip I know you’re going to get hungry.”

			(Horn honking outside)

			Desiree Jones: “Your father means the best, and he feels this is the best for you, for all of us. Your Great Uncle Willie went through this on the night of the big change and he is the best equipped to help you get through it.”

			Walter just shakes head numbly says, “Thanks for the chicken mom,” then walks out to the car.

			Father: “If you miss this train, boy you’ll get it. You have any idea how much a ticket to Seattle costs?”

			Walter: “I’ll get what dad? You going to turn me over your knee?!” Walter pulled back his foot and lashed out at the side of the car. He only meant to let off a little steam but as his foot connects the entire car rocks and the door crumples from his kick.

			Father: “What have you done? Get in the car you belong with your own kind maybe they can deal with you.”

			Walter: “My own kind, Dad? Aren’t you my own kind, aren’t you my father?”

			The car ride and following train ride are a blur.

			Conductor: “This is your stop Seattle.”

			Walter picked up his trunk and climbs off the train. It’s foggy and misty a typical night in Seattle. As Walter stands on the platform he wonders again what his Uncle Willie will be like, what his new life will be like.

			Out of the mist walks a large hulking orc with white curly hair poking out from under a dark blue stocking cap with a single yellowing tusk jutting out of his bottom lip. He is an odd sight. He wears a heavy yellow slicker like someone who works on a fishing boat would wear. Underneath a heavy dark blue sweater and a stocking cap complete the image.

			Walter : “Uncle Willie?”

			Pops: “Call me Pops lad, everyone does.” Sticks an old stogie in the side of his mouth.

			Scene returns to older Walter still holding the sea jacket, “You’re not dying on me yet Pops. I will make enough money someway, somehow to get you healthy.”
