Glavin grew up fascinated by the Ancients. His dream was to own something of theirs.
He fell into tomb robbing as he wanted to learn how to find those precious artifacts. He was cowardly though, and left a fellow robber to die when a tunnel collapsed.
Perhaps his erstwhile colleagues heard of that, perhaps it was bad luck, but Glavin was rounded up by a pressgang and inducted into the local marines as a ground assault trooper. His Vacc Suit training was deemed good enough to work a battledress, and he was taught which end of the gun to point at the enemy. During his first assault he was shot out of the sky as he was dropping. Recovered barely alive, he was sent to the hospital where he slowly made a full recovery.
At that point he was discharged from the marines and decided to pursue his interest in archaeology. He lucked out by coming under the wing of the famed and eccentric Vlani archaeologist Po’kl Vhiti. With him he learned more than he thought possible. Later he found out about one of his fellow protégé’s projects in recovering an Ancients artifact. Juko Lianmi never knew what hit him, but he knew who to blame even though he had no proof.
At this point Glavin decided to go hunting for artifacts once more, and headed to the Zaibon system chasing a rumor of ruins amongst the asteroid belt.
