			Some years later, Kerani and T'Rea decided to have a daughter together, with T'Rea bearing the child and Kerani providing the DNA. While Vulcan-Human mating is no longer unheard of in the 24th century, and human females "fathering" children with their own modified DNA is likewise less rare, the combination presented a number of difficulties, including those presented by T'Rea not being a full-blooded Vulcan herself.

			Following some difficulties (including apparent resistance from the Vulcan Science Academy to aid a mother who decidedly did not follow Vulcan ways, T'Rea recently became pregnant. Despite having only minimal OB/GYN experience and less expertise in the specialized biological sciences involved in the pregnancy, Kerani became extremely overprotective of T'Rea's health, and beginning to drive her insane.

			T'Rea suggested that Kerani accept an assignment to the Hyperion, which seemed to be both fairly short-term and a opportunity for Kerani to join a pure exploration mission. Kerani had a varied background involving various planetside and [REDACTED] assignments, and a long stint in Second Contact on the USS Oxnard, she had never really been on a "seek out new life, and new civilizations" mission.

			Kerani told her wife that was because she hated space travel and preferred working planetside, or at least on [REDACTED] where there was a lot of planetside action. T'Rea replied "No, you're fine with space travel, you just love bitching about it." Kerani, after a bit of self-reflection, had to agree, and accepted an assignment to USS Hyperion.

	~~Fortunately it all ended like an Elizabethan comedy rather than a tragedy, with laughter and two weddings at~~ the ~~end~~: ~~a traditional 4 person Andorian ceremony~~ and ~~a decidedly non-traditional one for~~ Kerani ~~and T'Rea~~. ~~Today it all makes for~~ a ~~great story, and~~ the ~~two families get along great~~.		She was characteristically NOT aware that T'Rea's primary motivation was to get her out of the house until the baby was nearly due.
