=The Default=

The ''Default'' number of people playing ''Kingdoms'' is five - one ''Adjudicator'' and four ''Players''.

The game is designed with this number of players in mind, and works best in this way. However, real life sometimes dictates that this can't be done! Here are some options you may need to consider...

=Two Opposed Players and One Adjudicator=

In this scenario, one player controls all Black pieces, and one controls all White pieces. The disadvantage of this is that you lose a lot of the internal dynamic of the game, and a lot of the roleplaying.

=Two Allied Players and One Adjudicator=

In this scenario, one player controls the Dominant Court of one Kingdom, and one controls the Shadow Court of the same Kingdom. The Adjudicator player then controls the opposing Kingdom.

This solution has a lot of downsides, the main one being a massive workload for the Adjudicator! On the other hand, it has advantages too, as the emphasis of the game shifts from PvP to PvE.

=Six or Eight Players and One Adjudicator=

In this case, simply divide up each Kingdom into a larger number of players.

If there are three players per Kingdom then:
* One player controls the King.
* One player controls the Queen.
* One player controls the other four back row pieces.

If there are four players per Kingdom then:
* One player controls the King.
* One player controls the Queen.
* One player controls two other back row pieces.
* One player controls two other back row pieces.

It really isn't a good idea to have more than eight players in the room!

=Odd Numbers of Players, plus the Adjudicator=

If you have an odd number of players, then one player can represent the '''Neutral Faction'''.

For example, if you have five players plus one adjudicator, then there are two players per Kingdom (as is traditional) plus one '''Neutral Faction''' player.
