''Kit was once a normal fox cub living with her mother and siblings in a forest at the edge of the city until the day a container truck belonging to Argus MegaCorp drove through her forest. The driver lost control of the truck for reasons unknown and the cargo, which had not been properly secured, fell off the side of the vehicle and spilled the contents all over the forest floor; a green, sticky goo mixture of chemical waste and mutagenic run-off from their genetic experiments.

''The goo poisoned a wide swath of the forest floor, causing most of the animals and plants it reached to wither and die. This included Kit's family, who succumbed to the goo as it seeped into their den. Only Kit escaped, although she had already been exposed to the mutagenic substance and it began altering her DNA.
