	* Oldest Grave - (as described by Jean Crabill) <br> The original cemetery belonging to Concordia Church (the first Protestant German church in the city of Washington, which did not include Georgetown), was often referred to as the German Lutheran Cemetery. It was established in 1846 and consisted of the city block surrounded by 4th, 5th, H and I Streets, NE. A few years later the city decided no cemetery could be started or expanded within city limits. Therefore, in 1858 Prospect Hill Cemetery was founded. It was incorporated by Congress in 1860. (Because Concordia's men's group bought the property before the congregation was able to vote on such an action, Prospect Hill never belonged to Concordia. <br> During the first few years of Prospect Hill's existence, there were burials of two types--the newly deceased, and those transferred from the old German Lutheran Cemetery. This explains why the oldest date of death we have found on a tombstone was for Mary Neitzey, wife of George Neitzey. According to the stone, Mary was born June 16, 1821, and died September 1, 1844.
