Simon-SYS was plucked out of the Junior creches to become part of the Armed Forces, one of the stalwart defenders of Alpha Complex, protecting it from the hordes of Communists, traitors, and unregistered mutants preparing to destroy it. Until the Battle of [CENSORED] where Simon came out a lauded Red, the sole survivor of his squad, and deeply aware of the inhumanity of the Computer. PURGE found him, and helped Simon work it through to the logical conclusion: the Computer had to go.

Except that was merely a cover story he used, following the instructions of his superiors in the Illuminati. It's fine, the power and knowledge he gains from all this will obviously be extremely useful for protecting Alpha Complex, won't it?
