== People and Culture ==
Modern Solars are known as excellent scholars and benefit from the best education system in the galaxy. The University is an important institution in Solar culture, with professors holding a position of great honor in the society. The vast majority of the population is human, but members of all the races can be found here.

The political and legal system has been greatly influenced by contact with the [[Starfall:_Fraal|fraal]]. Some would argue that the amount of reverence paid to the fraal borders on worship.

== History ==
The modern history of Sol begins in 2043 when after the conclusion of a conflict know as the [[Starfall:_Shadow_Conflict|Shadow Conflict]], when the entire political system of the earth is replaced by the Earth Alliance. The Alliance originally consisted of six nations; the Chinese Confederation, the Oceana Union, the South American Alliance, the Union of Europa, the United Arab Nations, and United North America. Mars became a power in the Alliance in 2137.

In 2054, humans make contact with the fraal. the two races form a close partnership that eventually led to the creation of the stardrive, the only known method of breaking the light speed barrier.

In 2101, a conflict called the [[Starfall:_Gold_War|Gold War]] devastates the Solar economy.

In 2105, Sol attempts to terraform a planet in the Centari System. The project is a complete failure and is scrapped.

In 2126, a race of aliens called the [[Starfall:_Sesheyans|sesheyans]] in the [[Starfall:_Sesha|Sesha System]] are discovered and the [[Starfall:_Halo|Halo System]] is colonized as an observation point.

In 2137, the [[Starfall:_Epic_Virus|Epic Virus]] devastates the Solar population and causes many people to flee the system in an event known as the Exodus.

In 2148, Sol fights a war against Halo known as the [[Starfall:_Halorian_War|Halorian War]]. Sol is defeated and Halo becomes an independent nation. Largely because of this war, the fraal withdraw from humanity.

in 2182, Sol, [[Starfall:_Pharaoh|Pharaoh]] and Halo form a tense alliance and defeat the [[Starfall:_Eberon|Eberian Empire]] in the [[Starfall:_Eberian_War|Eberian War]].
