The Banain Dynasty is cursed. Once a powerful force across the Imperium this storied lineage has boasted nearly a half dozen High Lords in its time. But those days of glory are long gone, all but forgotten. Indeed its likely the only people who remember at all are the Banain's themselves. You see they have the dubious honor of having been entrusted with a vast expanse of space at the time of the Great Crusade, their Warrant bears the sigil of the God-Emperor Himself, but alas they failed Him. Their March was an expanse of lush worlds, rich in all things.

So great is the shame they bear that it falls to the least favored son, for it must be a boy, to carry the Warrant. Sure, with it comes a powerful starship, but it is a terrible burden. For on his 78th year, the age of the Marquis who lost (name goes here), this son is oathbound to take all his forces save one ship, the original survivor, into that hellish place and bring war to the Orks there. He must then fight his way to the surface and plant his standard on the very spot where the original pennons once flew.

None has ever succeeded. The only real accomplishment the man doomed to be Marquis can hope for is that his own sons are exempt from having to carry the burden themselves.

Jean-Allister is a melancholy man, prone to wandering the ancient halls of his ship in his frequent fits of deep despair. he always finds himself at the same place, the Hall of Ancestors, where great statues of those who came before him stand in regal display save the great, dusty sheet that each is covered with once the person so honored has died. They say the ghosts of those men roam the corridors as well, forever doomed to see their dynasty fail again and again until the day they are redeemed. Jean-Allister's is the only statue visible, erected on the day the Warrant passed to him.

The days seem to go on forever, but the years slip like sand through his fingers. He grows ever desperate, consorting with all manner of felonious persons, ever obsessed with his dark fate, some say he flirts with heresies, even that he's a sorcerer and that he keeps regular company with Xenos.
