That fear does mean that she'll sometimes turn coward when put between a rock and a hard place, and/or use people who have otherwise outlived their usefulness to take her shots for her. Given her morbid obsession, probably has some Kernish dealings. She's been out of Zeva's life for a while, but since they're sailing the same seas and Zeva's still harbouring a grudge, she knows it won't stay that way forever.
