During the reign of terror of super-assassin Gray Death, neither police, hired mercenaries, elite bodyguards, or even an evil businessman’s private army were able to stop her. It took The Protectors to do that.

All in the pursuit of an old vendetta about her mother being imprisoned for a crime she was innocent of. It was then that The Protectors, who had always shown willingness to work with the authorities, were deputized as official law enforcers, by the Mayor invoking an outdated law that happened to be still in the books.
