Name: Wan Yi Hou
Male
Archetype: Scholar
Concept: Chess Master Warrior

Bio: Wan's father was a Yun. A Yun who left the Yun lands because of an woman, and exchanged the life of a xia for that of a peasant because of her.
Needless to say, other Yun believed him mad. His son believes his father was right, and studied dutifully the Chinese classics and, at his father's insistence, some martial skills. He preferred his mother's style, which made the best use of his quick mind and tactical ability, and his father's teachings of the Six-Armed Demon Gof, Chi cultivation, and riding.
Luckily, his father and mother had had exactly the same preferences as younger xia warriors - and he was probably going to follow their example even more, and give up on the life in the Wulin. His neighbours didn't like Yun too much, but since nobody argues with a family of xia, life in the village wasn't so bad.
Still, he made friends with some Sword Heretics, which defeated him to show him Dao of the Sword, and with some Daoist heretics, with whom he was in complete agreement. He met a heretical Small Forest priestess, and was impressed by her cultivation. Her example inspired him to strive more to follow Dao.
That's probably how he remained in the Wulin, although he had been eyeing the exams for gouvernment position...
Until that fateful day when he swore revenge on one of the Banes of the Wulin!

Disadvantages:
Black Sheep (as per the Yun loresheet)

1: Calm Heart Skill
•You have a +5 bonus to Awareness or Wu Wei.

2: All-Seeing Eye of God
•When rolling to Dodge, you may substitute your external style’s basic Footwork bonus with either your Awareness or Wu Wei skill bonus.

3: Clarity in Openness
•You have a +10 bonus to any single Skill check.

4: Yielding to Adversity
•In an opposed roll, re-roll your entire Lake.

5: Erasing the Concept of Emptiness
•Make an Awareness check as a minor action on the initiative roll, and choose a target.
•Later within this same round, if you get a Rippling roll against that target, you may forgo rolling and instead treat the result of the Awareness check as the result of the Rippling roll. The target may still use Chi Aura to resist it.

Toughness: +5

Unarmed: Can Focus on Breath with single die.

Qualities: Where many Kung Fu styles rely on intuition and instinct, White and Black Stone trains its practitioners to fight using intellect. Named for the game of go, this style imagines fighting as a tactical game, with strategies that can be mastered and countered in turn. White and Black Stones is neither passive nor aggressive, attacking and defending simultaneously in its complex stances and weapon patterns. It seeks out vulnerability and weakness. While White and Black Stones will take an opportunity for a one-shot kill if it presented, it does not seek such opportunities out; rather, it seeks to prolong the fight, compounding the incremental advantage of its strategies.

Laughs At: White and Black Stones laughs at simple styles and straightforwards styles, whose attacks and defenses are easy to predict. It also laughs at trickery, as it’s razor-keen insight penetrates deception with ease.

Fears: White and Black Stones fears the passionate and the mad. As the style focuses on strategy and foresight, madmen and fools who fight without tactics or technique can confound the style’s many plans. White and Black Stones also knows that even a momentary delay in formulating a counter-tactic can be lethal, so it fears any circumstance or condition that could inhibit its ability to think clearly.
