Charlotte was born in 1870, the fifth daughter of Sir Harry and Lady Elizabeth Ferrers of Faulkborne Hall in Essex, Charlotte is an archaeologist. She studied at Oxford (Lady Margaret Hall) and then trained with Sir William St John Hope, the prominent archaeologist and antiquarian. She specialises in mediaeval archaeology, especially religious sites. She is a member of several learned societies. She has a fiancé, Captain Richard Wilson, but he's currently in South Africa due to the Boer War.
