The World So Far

It has been 4 years since hostilities ended between The Allied Baronies and the Tashar Kingdom. A long, drawn-out war of over a decade ended with Orcyd, one of the noble advisors of Tashar King Valencin, taking the king by arms for 'crimes against the people' and then sending emissaries to the Allied Baronies to seek peace.

Trade has slowly returned to normal, with occasional flashes of old enmity springing up. Compounding this is the rise of banditry and disorder along the various borders established in the wake of the treaty to end the war. Both sides have taken it upon themselves to employ veterans to deal with the problems that arise after war, from simple bandits, through the rise of undead and carrion-eaters due to the slaughter of war, to the rebuilding of two sets of people dragged into war by greed and malice.

Both the Allied Baronies and the Tashar Kingdom are human-centric, with a mix of other races including hobgoblins, although hobgoblins tend to fare better in Tashar. In fact, the current king, Orcyd, is a hobgoblin, laying claim to the title by an obscure several hundred year precedent of law involving the support of both the Council of the Land (a collection of influential nobles) and the Freespeaker Yeomen (a group of commoner and merchant representatives from throughout the Kingdom) giving legitimacy to his uprising.
