Moonlit Coral Veiled In Sorrow

"The state of this world is sick.
Look what festers beneath the veneer of so-called civility and righteousness.
Famine. Slavery. Plague. Corruption. Beasts and fae alike running wild.
Life is suffering, and death is a wondrous freedom.
I bring the gift of death, the embrace of Oblivion. Accept it and be freed of your suffering and your sins."

Exalt

Dusk Abyssal

Exalt Milestone: Gained if they engaged a significant foe in bloody combat.

  • Death’s Champions: Abyssals are considered undead whenever it is beneficial to them. In places touched by death, such as the Underworld or a blood-soaked battlefield, they gain a one-success bonus on any action that evokes fear, sorrow, dread, or acceptance.
  • Cruel Banquet: Drawing might from blood and terror, an Abyssal may replenish their motes by inflicting a level of damage or committing an act that frightens, subdues, or angers the target. Draining or terrifying a trivial character restores 1 mote, an elite character restores 2, and a powerful character — such as another Exalt — restores 3. The Abyssal may benefit from Cruel Banquet only once per scene outside of combat.
  • Resonance: Abyssals are resonant with soulsteel.

Anima Effects

  • Death is Inevitable (Passive): Without needing to roll, the Dusk slays up to his Essence in trivial characters on their turn; against nontrivial targets, their decisive attacks that hit always inflict at least one level of damage.
  • Fear Made Flesh (Active): When the Dusk flurries influence actions meant to intimidate, demoralize, or otherwise frighten a foe, reduce the flurry penalty by two on each action. They can also intimidate otherwise mindless targets, such as automata. This includes any antagonist with the Mindless quality.
  • Walking Apocalypse (Iconic): Once per turn, he may respond to an attack on Step 8, making a counterattack with any combat Ability. If successful, he gains his Essence in bonus successes to damage during Step 5 of his next attack against the target.

Merits

  • Artifact (Primary): Moonlit Coral is fortunate enough to possess Chill of Death, a grand grimscythe made from soulsteel and accented with blue jade and chunks of perpetually frozen ice. A small ghostly lantern hangs from the bottom of the haft that glows dimly with the light of lost souls. This weapon is ancient, one of the first items forged from soulsteel after the discovery and exploration of the Labyrinth in the First Age. This weapon saw so much use during the Usurpation and the end of the First Era that mortals still refer to the sensation of grave coldness, sudden shivers, or inexplicable chills in cemeteries and shadowlands as the "chill of death".
  • Resources (Secondary): Moonlit Coral has invested in an impressively large number of merchant guilds and trade ports in the Dreaming Sea, so he possesses a decently substantial income. He still owns multiple well-furnished apartments in various areas across the Dreaming Sea, and also has a stable under his name containing a choice of fine mounts. He can gain an audience with kings, minor satraps and young Dynastic scions by leveraging his economic power.
  • Contacts (Tertiary): Although Princess Magnificent could barely give him anything due to a lack of resources, she is still an ancient and powerful ghost, and thus demands worship and respect regardless of her current station. This enables Moonlit Coral to access what little pull he can from her thinly spread court of loyal ghosts and nephwracks, allowing him small favors and information from the dead of the Dreaming Sea.
