Background and Additional Info

The Five Questions

  1. Why are you devoted to keeping this sub-House alive against all odds? Earlier in my life, I wouldn´t be. Frankly, I detested Tanic for having the tenacity to call me home from a good life and then ttying me down to the fucking ball and chain of a satrapy, of all things. Slowly, though, it all made sense. As I grew into my new role, I began to reexamine everything I knew about the man - every meting between us, every letter that he sent, every word that he had spoken. As the true Tanic emerged, I felt a kinship to him that was closer than I had ever felt for anyone else. He was my father, and he was dead. I know what I had to do now - family matters, and that is all there is to it. As for pur enemies? Fuck them; fuck them all. I´ll show them how a Tanic fights.
  2. The Dynasty isn't all about family. What loyalties and causes compete with your loyalty to House Peleps Taric? I have done my damnedest to pacify the satrapy not by playing the military card or by making the Dennu tribes fight one another - but to make the natives truly respect me as a leader and protector. They follow me now, as much as they follow anyone, and I enjoy the role that I am playing. Should it come to me having to sacrifice them or the satrapy itself... I honestly don´t know if I could give up what I have built.
  3. In what ways are you products of the Dynasty? Answer pending
  4. What have you openly achieved in the past century that makes you a worthy subject for historians of the next Age to investigate thoroughly? I am Peleps Tanic Sikandi! Who hasn´t heard about my exploits? From a young age I have traveled the face of Creation, exploring new lands and fighting beasts of legend! I have stalked the Lightless Jungles of Sur-Tepesh and faced the Darkness of the Inner Eye. I have had royalty of forgotten kingdoms as lovers and slaves, friends and enemies. I have returned at the helm of the White Crow Queen and recieved the adulations of the Imperial City! The common people read my stories and dream of being one of the followers who get to accompany me, the patricians write poems and ingratiate themselves, my Dynast cousins love and enve me in equal measure. I have amassed a treasure trove of forgotten artifacts, unique goods and the traces of ancient histories that will live on long past my own death.
  5. What weaknesses do you possess that aren't just personal failings, but could be exploited by your enemies to cost you the Game of Thrones? What are the fields of engagement where you can't just apply Game Theory analysis, but instead will act against your own interests? There was a time in my youth, during my adventures, when I delighted in causing awe in the people of the distant places that I traveled. I bested their every challenge, defeated their mightiest warriors, braved their dangerous places and slayed the monsters that had plagued them for ages. Was it really that unexpected that their adulation would become... more? It certainly felt right at the moment. I was more than a Scion of the earth - I was their goddess, and I was worshipped like one. It is not easy for one of the Host to be accused of heresy, but this would definitely qualify in the eyes of the Immaculate Order. I have long since sworn off these deluded follies, but sometimes... sometimes I can not help but fear my sins coming to light.

Sikandi on her family

  • Alaric - My Very Serious Uncle; I do remember being entranced by his mastery of the martial arts – seeing him go through his forms in the gardens on one of his not-frequent visits was poetry to my soul! - and similarly bored senseless by his simple, devout nature. Knowing more than I did as a girl, I can respect the man more; I know the hardships of having to reinvent oneself.
  • Korel - A joy, this young man. He is as fiery as I once was, and at the same time gentler than I could ever claim to have been. His visits – the hunts, the duels, the revisitations of old adventures and the telling of newer stories – is perhaps the only thing that makes me feel young and careless again. It is a shame that he will get tied up in House affairs as we enter this uncertain new age.
  • Pranzha - The solid and dependable stranger that shares my house. He is a decent enough man, and treasured by our children... for which I am forced to admit that I cannot help but resent him some. He is all too happy to grant me room to move, as I am him; his affections lie in the past, while mine look towards the future. I might have to depend more on him now, though; I cannot afford to stand alone.
  • Hayabusa - I can never forget the parties that she hosted; magnificent affairs! Her beauty is legendary and her razor-sharp wit really should be; I don´t pretend to know her affairs, but I couldn´t imagine her being occupied with the little things. I have no idea what she will bring to our table now.
  • Aisha - Blessed Dragons (and how an appropriate expression is this!), how did you get where you are? I always expected you to choose to stay locked inside temple or tower – and yet, here you are. It is a dangerous game that you are playing, dear Sister, but you might well be our best hope. I will keep an eye out for your connections to Mnemon, though – that bitch never forgets, and more than anyone else she will be happy to se us all burn if it suits her whims.
  • Hinoko - So skillful and so proper. Nothing I ever did was ever enough for you to look at me with a kindly eye, was it, Sister? I remember a time when I would have given everything for you to give your approval. Now? I fear that we are both too old to change. My marriage, such as it is, gave you a reason to count me out, but don´t pretend that it really changed anything between us.
  • Grolush - Always keeping to yourself and your precious griffons! They are fierce beasts, so I can definitely see the attraction, but I can´t make heads or tails of you. Are you truly choosing to distance yourself from Dynast affairs? I didn´t use to question your reclusive nature, but as I age I have begun to wonder...
  • Taen - Oh, that boy. Irresponsible and self-serving, no doubt; his reputation kind of speaks for itself. Still, he is young and you can´t deny that that husband-wife stunt he pulled was funny as hell. He´ll grow up some day, as most of us do, as long as he doesn´t get it into his head to try to go for a larger target than he can handle.
  • Onais - Always amicable, always attentive, always competent. He has been a great help through the years, especially the later ones; I honestly don´t know how my ”glorious” rule would have managed to establish itself without a bunch of small but critical favors of his. More so, I have always enjoyed his company; though his tastes run tamer than my own, the man can entertain.
  • Medoina - I honestly haven´t had a chance to get to know little Medoina, though I do remember her as a small girl. She has made quite a name for herself as an emergent savant, though, and in this she could be a very valuable ally and resource. I need to send her an invitation sooner rather than later.
