Notes

I had already decided that he was the son of a former (and current) Spymaster for the nearest Elven realm that had a use for such a thing. His Mum is vaguely disappointed that her child had no great talent for magic, but would make a good field agent. So, an Elf Minstrel by day, sneaky spy by night. This all needs to go through a high elven translator [not a spymaster but the leader of Those Who Watch, etc], but you get the gist.
He's a free agent, though, deliberately not connected to the usual networks, wandering about the nearby human and other lands, playing music, telling stories and singing in venues high and low. All the while, nosing about for rumours, etc that said Elf realm [or mixed realm, As I said, I've still to read the setting, all I know is the Moonshae Isles] might want to know about.
