Background

Wayne Stevens, heir to the Stevens fortune, was a shut in. Ever since his parents were killed in front of him as a young boy he's had trouble interacting with his peers and his even his loyal butler Wilfred. After a car wreck that almost killed him, Wayne decided to travel the world alone and without his fortune seeking spiritual enlightenment to finally deal with his traumatic experiences and live a life of philanthropy and justice. Nicholas Emmett remembered the news story of the eager young billionaire. He also remembered he never came back.

Assuming that the feckless one-percenter got himself killed in a back alley in Shanghai or froze to death on Mt. Everest, Nicholas surgically altered his looks, hid what he could of Wayne's past as to not draw attention and made a triumphant return as Wayne Stevens, billionaire philanthropist, ready to use his great wealth to build a better world. And stop the Terror before he could destroy it. Nicholas let the elderly Wilfred retire (with a generous pension) saying "I need to start over fresh. You've been like a father to me and I can never forget all that you have done for me. If you need anything, all you need to do it ask."

Nicholas would love to go back to his old job as a high school science teacher, but has instead worked toward investing in Freedom City's schools and the brightest students in them. This also gives him a chance to keep an eye on his star pupils, a young group of geniuses, who took his lectures about "changing the world no matter what the cost" and "laws standing in the way of progress" the wrong way and became a group of young superheroes. They died in the original timeline. They would not in this one.

Nicholas has taken the name Infinity and acts as "The Cosmic Keeper". He tries to keep the Keeper as mysterious as possible to confuse prying eyes.
