Summary

The Benavides family was widely recognized and respected during the late 1800's and the earlier 1900's. As a rich merchant family, they were responsible for a great deal of the economic and architectural development of the city in the pre-civil war era. After the civil war, a mix of poor economic decisions, and having chosen the "wrong" side on the war caused them to steadily lose their fortune and influence in the city.

Montxo is the last (and only) known heir to what's left of the Benavides fortune: a crumbling manor house and some token real state. He's a known figure in the night scene of the city, and recently has acquired a substantial amount of shares in the Perish, the best known night-club of the region.
