Period: When Gods and Mortals Walked Hand-in-Hand, and Fought Shoulder-to-Shoulder.

Tone: Light.

Focus: The Destroyer

There is much trouble in the world, but all is not right in the heavens either. Many of the gods feel that some of their divine brethren have overstepped their bounds. These concerned deities feel the world should be a forum for creation, not destruction, yet some gods seemed to have succumbed to mortal vices of jealousy, avarice, and indifference. The Jade Court has grown jealous of the younger children of other gods. Yessel sulks in his divine realm and refuses to take part in mortal affairs anymore. And the Destroyer spreads chaos and pain throughout the world. What's worse is that the Destroyer has sown dissension among the gods themselves. This cannot stand.

Many of the pantheons gather at a nexus within the divine realms and make a vow: They will take a more active role among their mortal children. They will endow certain worthy mortals with divine power, making them heroes above heroes. The gods will walk the world in secret, helping and inspiring worthy mortals to achieve greatness. But most importantly, they will teach all mortals to acknowledge and respect the gods of other mortals, even if they are not the ones they worship.

Among those who make this vow are Baratu the Shining and Nevarendil the Skillful, forgers of the Jeweled Children; Mother Duwalathin, protectress and nurturer of the Catelites; The Scaled and Feathered Triumvirate, creators of the Naga-Sar-Ti, the Silver Volants, and Goldenwings. These and many other gods make this pledge. They have many tasks to complete, but all agree that their most important quest is this: the Destroyer is the greatest menace in the universe and cannot be allowed to have any influence in either the mortal or divine realms ever again.
