Period: Wildflower Spring

Tone: Light

(Glyptodont)

In the early-to-middle years of the conflict, a collection of provinces banded together to form an alliance to counter the major players in the war. These provinces were called the "Wildflowers" on account of both their "uncultivated" barbarian origins, and their often colorful cultural practices that were very different than the Empire's mainstream cultures. This Period was very short--less than a generation. For a few brief years the Wildflowers looked like they might strike a decisive blow against the Traditionalist factions and create a new Empire with a completely different mindset. But the Wildflowers' diversity was their undoing in the end. Divisions grew among the allied provinces and disagreements on fundamental aspects of governing eventually caused the Wildflowers to split into hostile factions--which the major powers gleefully exploited to their advantage. Nonetheless, the Wildflower Spring was viewed as a sort of renaissance in terms of politics, philosphy and arts for generations afterward and it has been the setting for countless songs, dramas and epics ever since.
