Time & Place

It is the night following the Full Moon of the 24th of the Arc of Sahaad, LA 100. In the early morning hours (roughly 5-6 a.m.). The sun wants to rise, and the sky is begining to move from black to morning blue. Collune Rahnvalla churns her divination abilities in the morning dew...

Narration & Collune's thoughts

Collune looking onto the battlefield.

She seems old for her years, yet still longing for youth in spirit - still a lovely woman but the energy seems to be leaving her as she has lost hope for her student, her hope for the world, her friend... Kyuad.

It's been days since she saw the mass dead rise from the battle of the March - he calls himself an "angel", the massive man she now journeies with. Faravor seems naive in nature, but his wisdom is masked it seems to offer inspiration back to the Arrows. He jokes and makes merry even in the withered forests, and it's seemed to have brought up the spirits of the Caransil under the young girl called Mi'Shun. If only Mi'Shun's spirits were able to rise. She seems on a quest. This Eranon, who I now know as my Kyuad's friend must be a good man to be worthy of her deep and noble heart...

Collune toils at creating a catch for the morning dews. It's the morning hours that seem best for such magics. As if the world is aiding her energies... With a few words in whisper the visions in the ripped dew appear on a maudrial leaf...

Collune

Translated from Safati (which she speaks into the whisper of the Message spell as her finger drags the dewy leaf, pin pointing a familiar face...
...hello... Kyuad... can you hear me?... Kyuad? Is that you?!?! You... Live?!! I... I... a tear runs down Collune's textured face, it drips into the dew and clears the path - her care for him energizes the spell and the necromantic interferance clears... She continue whispering in Safati into the morning dew. You... you ARE alive. Oh Kyaud... tell me you can hear me. Tell me this is not a dream.
...a distant voice becomes clear as if whispered into Kyuad's ear, he cannot see the face of his long lost friend, but he can remember. She is the only family he's known. She is what the fight is for. She... is the girl he remembers from ... the bird on the hill... the hill-brid... Hillbird. She is ... she is... and it seems that Kyaud is remembering her name.......

Kyuad

Kyuad looks about his surroundings, trying to find the source of the voice. In Erenlander he says, "Collune? Is that your name? Is that a name at all?"

His memories of each moment mix with the ancient memories of his eye... but, he should only have two eyes, shouldn't he? Was there a time when he had less than three? So many words spoken... these words of this voice, they are song-like and new somehow. Or only new to part of him...

He sees into the forest and recognizes friends among the shattered bodies, but in a moment they are gone, replaced by withered trees and corpses of orcs. His own body feels uncomfortable and foreign for a moment, like it was fixed to himself by a hasty surgeon. Then he remembers that he's supposed to have these legs and an extra eye... but there are three aren't there?

There were words a moment ago, what were they? How should I respond? "Check back in a week please," Kyuad says in practiced Dwarvish. But that doesn't seem to fit either. Her voice... "Come to me, tell me what you see," he says into the trees nearby. But why is his arm outstretched? What is he supposed to do with this? The words...

"Katta bomike modainu ilay-a'atuth?" Like a slow reflex, the words finally fit. He asks the woman in the branches above where he can find her and what she can see with a feeling of familiarity and excitement. "Safati," he says to himself. As he smiles, he feels his cheeks resist the motion, as if the muscles and skin had forgotten they could move that way.

In Safati, he looks up and speaks, "Collune, do we yet live? The world around us is awash with the dead, the past, the destruction of years and.... How have we come to be thus? We have never known what we are.... can you tell us?"
