Kyuad / Bill

  • During a time after dark when the three are awake, Kyuad will get Durgaz and Eranon alone with him for a short time in order to discuss something.

Kyuad: "While on a scouting trip, Nisse spotted Diero Possiogn, my erstwhile friend and the legate that owes me his life. He was among the legates leading the army toward Vrolk's 'Spire. It is fitting, since Diero did much of his studying with Vrolk. Given that those legates are leading drugged orc captives of Jazzir's army, I doubt that Jazir's old cedeku would have as much weight with Diero for the purposes of currying favor with the night king. But from what we know of this Dance of Ruin, and the likely ties to Vrolk, perhaps it could be a valuable tool for someone willing to employ demons in order to destroy or injure a night king.

"I wonder if perhaps the Sarcosan's loudmouthed blundering wasn't such a bad idea. If Diero is willing to so blantantly stand against Jazir, maybe Vrolk's loyalties extend no further than Sunulael. With a legate contact - who will be in the area shortly - who could be convinced to do us a favor, maybe we could insinuate ourselves into the trust of Vrolk himself. We would be in a better position to save the serpent sister and Walden, and then ensure that the Shadow does not keep control of the Cadaverous Eye. If Vrolk is the one behind the Dance of Ruin that resulted in a Valendil clone, a personal item once owned by Jazir could be used by him in the same manner.

"Once Vrolk and Sunulael move against Jazir, we could make our move against the Priest of Shadow, using his 'Eye and whatever other tools we might be able to acquire from Vrolk."

QUESTIONS/Thoughts and Notes - Asked & Answered

  • [KYUAD] I doubt that Jazir's old cedeku would have as much weight with Diero for the purposes of currying favor with the night king.
    • [A]: True... or maybe not. Politics are crazy when you're both trying to advance and/or stay alive.  :)
  • [KYUAD] But from what we know of this Dance of Ruin, and the likely ties to Vrolk, perhaps it could be a valuable tool for someone willing to employ demons in order to destroy or injure a night king. ... • [A]: Heheh... nice "devious" thinking... Are you sure you're not the silver tongued Sarcosan? A thought for you guys. It might be an interesting thing to get Adam involved in Bluebooking by planning/plotting (here) to go to him and manipulate him into doing all THIS stuff for you. Not only knowing that he has contacts and skill in this area, but also simply to protect yourselves from political retribution should the deal go sour. It's neat how these Bluebooking articles are totally unknown to the other's not in them! Use that!  :)
PS... you're also welcome to have side conversations with any of the NPCs if you like.

Durgaz / Andrew

Durgaz: "Wait. Your friend Diero did 'much of his studying with Vrolk?' How did you fail to mention that before?

"Is there anything else about Diero that you forgot to mention? Something that might explain why we found him at Walden's house, barely hours after Walden was captured and, apparently, taken directly to his old teacher? What was your friend doing there, Kyuad? Was he looking for Walden? Who sent him ... Vrolk? Sunulael?

"And why, of all things, do you insist on believing that there's any way at all that this Diero can be trusted? He appears to be playing a key role in a major power struggle between two Night Kings. Do you really think he could be trusted to risk all that ... his career, his life ... for you? For any of us? Even if there weren't strong evidence that he played a part in Walden's capture, I wouldn't trust this legate as far as you could throw him. You are not a fool, Kyuad. Why in the hell do you trust him so much?"

  • [DURGAZ] Your friend Diero did 'much of his studying with Vrolk?' How did you fail to mention that before?
    • [A]: To be fair to Bill, I just noted some of that this past game session. I *thought* Diero had mentioned it to Kyuad before when he talked about his time studying in the Aruun Jungles. Truth be told Kyuad knows little about it, other than that.
  • [DURGAZ] What was your friend doing there, Kyuad? Was he looking for Walden? Who sent him ... Vrolk? Sunulael?
    • [A]: GOOD questions...  :)
  • [DURGAZ] You are not a fool, Kyuad. Why in the hell do you trust him so much?
    • [A]: an out-of-game, altruistic answer... you gotta trust someone sometime just to find out, that's what trust is afterall. A game of chance. With possible big payoffs or loses.  ;)

Kyuad / Bill

Kyuad: "Diero did not seem altogether savvy of the nature of ShadowWall when he spoke to me there. If anything, his manner seemed to be perturbed that such a beautiful house still existed so close to Cambrial. He mentioned nothing of Walden when he was there, and seemed to believe me to be the owner of the house until I told him otherwise. I still believe that his path simply took him close to the tree. My assumption is that Caffel knew this was a possibility, and this was the reason that she asked me to seek you out. Though, it could be any number of reasons, I don't quite understand her purposes sometimes. She simply sends me where her visions tell her I should be."

Kyuad seems to contemplate something for a moment, then continues, "That is something I should probably explain. One of the reasons I allowed the legate to live is that it was the only logical purpose for my being there. Caffel knew that you would be able to help me, but she could have sent me after you a day later and I would have never met Diero. Had I not been there, he most likely would have been killed by the rest of you. My childhood friendship with him is the only reason any of us would have had to allow him to live, and therefore, it is the most likely reason I would be put into such a position. My conclusion was that Diero will serve a purpose to us in the future somehow, based not on who I think the man is, but on my utmost trust in the wisdom of my teacher, Caffel.

"Trust him, I do not. I trust however, that we will have need for him in the future.

"Then again, he might have been looking for Sir Walden and didn't want to let on, I don't know. I'm only doing the best I can."
