Funditores Auxilliary[edit]

"I may not be Roman by birth, but I have Rome in my heart. Ave Caesar!"
- Akakios, Greek Volunteer

  • Class: Light
  • Move: 5
  • Attack: Dagger - Roll 2+ to deal 2 damage.
  • Life Points: 8

Funditores Auxilliary Special Rules[edit]

Sling - At the start of his turn the Auxilliry may choose to reduce his Move to 0. If he does so, he gains a ranged attack option for that turn (which may be used instead of his normal melee attack). His ranged attack hits on a 2+ to deal 2 damage, and can be made at a distance of up to 4 squares. He may not use his ranged attack against enemies adjacent to him.

Funditores Auxilliary Tricks[edit]

Novicius Gladiators have 0 tricks. Palus Gladiators select 3 tricks. Primus Palus Gladiators gain all 7 tricks.

  • Co-ordinated Action

On his turn, the Funditores can choose not to act at all, instead naming an allied Gladiator from the Legions faction who has not yet acted this Battle Turn. Immediately after that Gladiator acts, this Legionnaire gets a free full turn.

  • Discretion over valour

At the start of his turn the Funditores may choose to gain a bonus movement point. If he does so however, at the end of that turn he must be at least 1 square further away from any enemy gladiators than he was at the start of the turn.

  • Light Mobility

After making any attack against a target, this gladiator may move 1 square for free.

  • Military Training

The Funditores may spend 4 movement points to gain +1 damage for the rest of the current turn.

  • Slayer

The Funditores gains +1 damage when attacking non-human targets.

  • Target weak spot

The Funditores ignores damage reduction from Toughness bonuses.

  • Will to Live

The gladiator receives a +1 bonus to the dice roll on Survival checks.

Centurion[edit]

"Up shields! Advance!"
- Lucius Cornelius Macro, Legio II Augusta

  • Class: Medium
  • Move: 4
  • Attack: Gladius - Roll 4+ to deal 4 damage.
  • Life Points: 8

Centurion Special Rules[edit]

Orders - The Centurion can use an "Orders" trick in place of making a melee attack. He can only use one such trick per turn.

Scutum - Melee attacks against the front facing of the Centurion receive a -1 damage reduction. This is an armour effect.

Veterans - Centurions must be of Palus rank minimum. You cannot create or purchase a Centurion of Novicius rank.

Centurion Tricks[edit]

Novicius Gladiators have 0 tricks. Palus Gladiators select 3 tricks. Primus Palus Gladiators gain all 7 tricks.

  • "Advance!"

Orders. All allied Legionnaires may immediately move one square.

  • Efficient Command

This Centurion may spend 4 movement points to issue an Order. This is in addition to the Order he can give in place of a melee attack. He can give the same Order twice in one turn, and where applicable, effects are cumulative.

  • "Kill them all!"

Orders. All allied Legionnaires hit on a 3+ with their basic melee attack for the remainder of the battle round.

  • "Shields up!"

Orders. All allied Legionnaires gain immunity to all ranged attacks for the rest of the battle round.

  • "Stand Your Ground!"

Orders. All allied Legionnaires in this battle are immune to forced movement effects and fear effects for the remainder of the battle round.

  • "Volley fire!"

Orders. All allied Legionnaires with the Fling Dart trick may immediately make their Fling Dart attack for free. All allied Funditores may immediately make their Sling attack for free.

  • Will to Live

The gladiator receives a +1 bonus to the dice roll on Survival checks.

Legionnaire[edit]

"Sir! Ready for war, sir!"
- Titus Pullo

  • Class: Medium
  • Move: 4
  • Attack: Gladius - Roll 4+ to deal 4 damage.
  • Life Points: 8

Legionnaire Special Rules[edit]

Scutum - Melee attacks against the front facing of the Legionnaire receive a -1 damage reduction. This is an armour effect.

Legionnaire Tricks[edit]

Novicius Gladiators have 0 tricks. Palus Gladiators select 3 tricks. Primus Palus Gladiators gain all 7 tricks.

  • Combat Control

Any enemy gladiator moving out of a square adjacent to this gladiator must spend +1 movement point for that square of movement.

  • Co-ordinated Action

On his turn, the Legionnaire can choose not to act at all, instead naming an allied Gladiator from the Legions faction who has not yet acted this Battle Turn. Immediately after that Gladiator acts, this Legionnaire gets a free full turn.

  • Fling Dart

Instead of making a melee attack, the Legionnaire may fling a dart. This is a ranged attack with a range of 3 squares, that hits on a 4+ and deals 1 point of damage. It may not be used against an adjacent enemy.

  • Formation Fighting

As long as there are two allied Gladiators adjacent to him, this Legionnaire deals +1 damage on his attacks.

  • Military Training

The Legionnaire may spend 4 movement points to gain +1 damage for the rest of the current turn.

  • Warrior Disicipline

Any attack roll against this gladiator that rolls "2" or less automatically misses.

  • Will to Live

The gladiator receives a +1 bonus to the dice roll on Survival checks.

Optio[edit]

  • Class: Medium
  • Move: 4
  • Attack: Gladius - Roll 4+ to deal 4 damage.
  • Life Points: 8

Optio Special Rules[edit]

Orders - The Optio can use an "Orders" trick in place of making a melee attack. He can only use one such trick per turn.

Scutum - Melee attacks against the front facing of the Optio receive a -1 damage reduction. This is an armour effect.

Optio Tricks[edit]

"Form up on me! Now, forward!"
- Quintus Licinius Cato, Legio II Augusta

Novicius Gladiators have 0 tricks. Palus Gladiators select 3 tricks. Primus Palus Gladiators gain all 7 tricks.

  • "Attack my target!"

Orders. Select an adjacent enemy. The Optio and any allied Legionnaires adjacent to that enemy may make a free melee attack against that enemy.

  • Bodyguard

If an active allied Centurion adjacent to the Optio is attacked in melee, the Optio can choose to swap places and facings with the Centurion before the attack is resolved.

  • Chain of Command

If there is an active allied Centurion in the Arena, the Optio can use "Orders" tricks known by that Centurion in addition to his own known tricks list.

  • "Cut them down!"

Orders. One Legionnaire ally within 6 squares may make a free melee attack against an enemy adjacent to that ally.

  • "Double time!"

Orders. One allied Legionnaire immediately gains 3 Movement Points which may be spent immediately. These bonus movement points are lost when the Optio's current turn ends.

  • Formation Fighting

As long as there are two allied Gladiators adjacent to him, this Optio deals +1 damage on his attacks.

  • Will to Live

The gladiator receives a +1 bonus to the dice roll on Survival checks.
